Impulse buy - Amethyst and pink sapphire earrings

Usually I am not an impulse buyer when it comes to jewelry, but on a recent weekend trip to NY, I bought a pair of Italian made amethyst, pink sapphire and diamond chandelier earrrings set in rose gold, on an impulse. On top of that, it was at a jewelry store at the hotel I was staying at. I guess I broke all my own rules as I seldom buy from a B&M store. I first admired the earrings in the window when the store was closed. In the morning, after we checked out, I had a little time before going to lunch with my sister. So I stopped by the store and it was open. I tried on the earrings and I really liked them. Purple is a popular color this summer and I do not have nice purple earrings. The store was kind of desperate for business. I was able to negotiate the price way down, so I bought them. I felt a little stupid afterwards. I browsed briefly at all the major jewelry stores around 5th and also on Madison, and a few on 47th that were open, and paid a visit to LM and saw all his pieces for sale, and I managed not to buy anything. Then I ended up buying these earrings from a hotel store.

Nashville: These earrings look like one of a kind, and you are right that I felt if I walked away, I may never find a similar pair again. I did see a pair of diamond earrings at my local jeweler that kind of looked like these, but they were 6 figures. These ae much much cheaper. For the price I paid for these, I can't get them custom made in Hong Kong.

TL: I can wear these to 2 weddings that I have to attend in the next couple of months.

Pink Tower: You are right. These earrings can be dressed up or dressed down. I plan to wear them with casual clothes too.

Charmy Poo: They are not heavy at all. In fact, I would have liked them better with just a post with a big backing instead of the French clip. For earrings like these, I usually use a clear plastic disk in between the post and the backing, to add extra support.

Harriet: I like the micro pave with pink sapphires because they have a lot of sparkle and can pass for pink diamonds in the evening. I was in NY city for my husband's fraternity reunion on July 4th weekend. So I did run into the heat wave. It felt like I was back in Hong Kong. I hope you were off to some place cooler. I am sorry I did not have time to get together with you on this trip. There were two many activities already plan for me that I couldn't get out of. I met Mimi So in person as she was a guest at the formal banquet. She was wearing two of her pieces that were used in "Sex and the City 2", a black diamond bow ring and a chunky retro style yellow old bracelet set with some diamonds.

Thank you Crasru, DandiAndi and Chrono for your nice comments. I plan to wear these earrings a lot. They are well made and the price was fair. If I have attempted to get amethyst earrings custom made, I would have to pay more and mostly likely I would not have come up with a design as nice.
