I was just at my local Safeway supermarket this weekend and was browsing the floral department for some flowers for my mom. I looked into the refridgerated case and saw a lovely rose bowl filled with a dozen roses and complimentary foliage (leaves and baby''s breath). The one on display had pink roses, but I wanted red for my mom. I picked out the freshest dozen and just asked the florist there to make a fresh arrangement for me. The rose bowl was finished off with a nice ribbon bow.
It was only $14.99 plus tax! She put the whole arrangement in a nice floral box with tissue too so it was easy to transport to give to my wonderful mom. I bet you could order in advance to ensure that they would order fresh roses for you.
Hope this helps someone. I had roses for my wedding several years ago and I think if I had known Safeway could do these so inexpensively I would have just had them put together for me instead of doing do-it-yourself.
