I think that some of the pricescope vendors will agree with this:
"If today the successful recipe is to put 70 percent of your energy into shouting about your service and 30 percent into making it great, over the next 20 years I think that''s going to invert."

I think a lot of them are ahead of the curve by 20 years :}

Yes, I think you are right. In this business there is not the margin to do a lot of shouting via advertising. We must earn the referrals of others, especially on places like Pricescope where we are not allowed to shout but rather earn (there''s that word again) a chance at the Pricescopian''s business by providing service in the form of valuable information with no expectation of immediate return, but the hope of long term earning a helpful reputation.

It is the long time presence and proof of service to others attitude that will lead to business from well informed web discussion groups, regardless of the product.

Thank you for bringing this thread to our attention.

Strm you are so right about this.

I personally give Leonid the nod for having the vision and understanding to create the same kind of climate for PS that benefits Bezos’ company elsewhere on the ''net. This educational climate is what allows PS members to converse, get answers, digest many opinions and develop trust for (or at least feel secure in) the internet purchase.

PriceScope is a conversation. It is about people more than products, and the best advocacy vendors can realize is through honest goodwill from the consumers, as Wink mentioned.

While I believe the equation may be more complex than simply adjusting a service/shouting ratio over time, but I would never accuse Bezos of "simplicity" - after all he''s a billionaire and I''m several orders of magnitude short of that!

Basically, it''s all about helping people fulfill their desires!

I think another important point he brings up is the power of freebies.
I know serveral of you offer some "tools" that come with the diamond.
If it was me on every page right by the price Id include what comes with it.
I am curious why more vendors dont include the stone holders that look like rings with every loose diamond purchase.
They are cheap enough in bulk and would help the person buying it in evauluating how the diamond would look on the finger.
