I''m hoping to get a quick answer to a kind of stupid question....

I''m having a birthday party.....Desserts of various kinds will be served....It will begin at 8pm. What is the best way to say on the invitation that it''s a dessert party, or do I need to say it at all considering the starting time?

I need to mail these suckers out....Birthday''s less than a month away!

Don't some people dine during that time period? Ok, you are not in Spain, but instead of desert it could be bufé, sandwitch, bar, drinks only or... what do I know. I would mention. The hour is indeed later than dinner would imply, but this does not seem to indicate what the pary would be like. I would say 'desert'. Ok, just mu 0.02

think it'd be for the best if u do mention its a dessert party. and there is no wrong or right way to mention it, just have to incoporate it into the card.

maybe u could have a picture montage of different desserts for the front cover and wording inside with reference to it being a dessert party.

if u dont mention it at all, people would get confused, cos some people do have dinner rather late.

Yes, definitely say clearly on the invitation that it's a dessert party. It's at the classic hour for dinner--if I was invited to a party at 8, I would assume dinner would be served.

"Please join us for dessert to celebrate Keith's new job."

"It's Mom's 80th--please join us for birthday cake!"

"Mr. & Mrs. John Doe request the honor of your presence after dinner at 8:00 o'clock, Saturday December 7th, at 123 Main Street. Dessert will be served."

"Come to a dessert party! Bring the kids! Bring the dogs! Wear a funny hat!"

Thank you all for the replies....

I had to make a decision last night, and so I did mention that dessert would be served. The dopey things I agonize over, jeez!
