I really need some help deciding if I want to use this ribbon on my invites. I really like the look of it but think it might be to much goin on, and kinda a pain for my guests. Help please

IMO, the polka dot ribbon does take away from your beautiful invites.

Maybe it would work better with plain sheer ribbon? Or possibly a subtle burn-out scroll pattern so it is still one color in the ribbon and matches the design element on the invite?

I don't think the design needs the ribbon, but if you want it, go for it. I would not worry about it being a pain for guests.

ETA: Since the names and the floral design are the printed elements you see the most (and want to see the most), maybe bring the loops of the ribbon a little closer to the part of the ribbon that wraps around the paper to make most of the names more visible- not moving the whole ribbon down, I think it looks balanced as it is just above the mid point.

I prefer it with the ribbon.

you took the words right out of my mouth. too much going on with the ribbon.

Honestly, I think the ribbon takes away from the beautiful invitation. If you really wanted to use a ribbon, I''d suggest a solid color. The polka dot ribbon looks very busy and it seems to compete with the invitation.

The ribbon is too much. If you REALLY want a ribbon consider a thin, solid colored one.

I understand why you like it..it is like the icing on the cake

. And who doesn''t love icing!!

Have to agree with most...in this instance you have so much beauty in the scroll work itself, the placement of the font...and the details that I think the polka is a dance that shouldn''t have been invited to this soiree!!

If you want a ribbon, what about a smaller one and knotted with small tails instead of a large loopy bow? You still have room for some icing...you just want it to be an accent instead of the main attraction. That burn out suggestion was right on. As was one in a solid color. Sheer organza choice you made is great..as it allows you to see everything. I really don''t think you need one...but I understand your desire to add just one more something!

MHO: Forgo that particular ribbon, grab a partner, and Every body Polka!!!

oh dear...I hope this came across with humor instead of insulting tone...as that is what I meant...to make you giggle.

Ditto DKS''s ideas!

joy, your invites are really lovely, very elegant. I think the polka dots are too busy and take away from the gorgeous floral scroll desgin on the actual invites though. You could do a plain brown satin ribbon couldn''t you? Or, if your invite is one of those deals where the invite is inside an envelope inside the larger envelope that has the postal address, you could tie a plain brown satin ribbon around the inner envelope, so it''s more of a "ta DA!" moment when the guest opens it up...? Or, if you really want another option for more florish, you could simply use a brown sealing wax seal on the outside of the inner envelope? But honestly, I like them plain as is. Very nice!

Thank you so much everyone. Thats what I thought, but everyone I asked at home said they looked great and deep down I knew it was to much. I''ll try all those great suggestions you all gave and post pics in a bit :) Thanks again

I too love the invatation on it''s own; it looks classy just like that w/out a ribbon.
