HI:

At one time I believed a diamond tennis bracelet was a ''must'' have in a jewellery wardrobe. But now I am not so sure. My opinion has been solicited on the subject matter as a potential purchase for a milestone celebration. Generous budget. What would you advise? Please!!

cheers--Sharon
I don''t think anything is a ''must'' in a jewelry wardrobe, to begin with.
A diamond tennis bracelet is certainly classic. Certain styles do speak of certain periods. Right now the 2-3 ctw ones that are plain and set in YG say ''80''s'' and that''s not currently a popular look. The art deco styles in platinum or WG are much more popular. But these things cycle around--I can remember when no young girl wanted art deco anything! How things change--and then change back again.
If you have been solicited to give advice concerning what would be a suitable gift for someone else, I think that your job is actually to talk to that person--without giving the surprise away. Turn the topic to jewelry, tell them what you like, get them to say what they like and what their dream gift has always been. Myabe take them shopping for something for ''you'' and see what they try on while in the store--what makes theirs eyes light up. That way, you''ll be much more likely to find out what pleases THEM than you are by asking us. Good luck! Let us know what happens.
HI:

We actually discussed this in brief earlier this summer....but it was more about plain bangles, etc. I have revisited this recently, but sometimes it is more difficult to discuss it/just drop it inot convo than one thinks!

cheers--Sharon

I don''t like bracelets at all. . .and think tennis bracelets are out-of-style. I''ve seen some fun variations, but the standard line of diamond going around the wrist is been around the block too many times. . .

I''ll post a link to a bracelet I think IS cool and totally "in." Just a sec. . .

Now, this is a bracelet. Belongs to member "Kroshka." Fancy Colored Halo Diamond bracelet.

I find them kinda boring. BUT add a twist to them, they can have a whole new look. Roberto Coin does a great bangle with tension set stones, I am wearing that now, and love it. But the standard tennis bracelet is not something I am loving these days... I see it all the time and that to me is boring. I'd do something custom and make it your own....Sounds like a fum project to me!!!

Kaleigh, do you have a picture of your bracelet? I'd like to see what it! I love RC stuff.

ETA - oh, now I see the post where you cannot post photos???

I think they are a staple, and in fact am hoping to recieve one as a push present very shortly. That said, I have very traditional tastes (my e-ring is a solitaire set in platinum, my wedding band is a platinum five stone band and I wear diamond studs daily). When/if I get a tennis bracelet, I would plan to wear it almost every day. I think that a tennis bracelet is similar to studs, that it goes with everything from jeans to an evening gown. My issue with some of the other styles of diamond bracelets that have been posted here is that while very lovely, they seem formal to me and would not get much wear given my lifestyle. Since I am not at a point in my life where I can have many bracelets that costs thousands of dollars, I personally would prefer a tennis bracelet that can be worn almost anywhere to a different style of diamond bracelet that would sit in my jewelry box most of the time. However, your friend may very well have different tastes or a different lifestyle than I do.

I don''t think tennis bracelets go out of style especially if they are set very simply. I still like my asscher bracelet although I don''t wear it often because it drives me crazy when it gets dirty.

And here''s the FY and diamond bracelet I have.........
HI Michelle:

Thanks!! Do you wear a diamond bracelet everyday?

cheers--Sharon
I wear some kind of a bracelet every day. If I''m wearing diamonds then yes, I wear a diamond bracelet. If I''m wearing gemstones then I usually wear a matching gemstone bracelet.

I have a tennis bracelet that my husband gave me while we were dating and I love it. I don''t care if it is a tired look or not, it has sentimental value to me and I will wear it everyday for the rest of my life.

A friend of mine bought a tennis bracelet on an island she vacationed on. Her tennis bracelet is wider than a typical bracelet and it is diamond and rainbow sapphires. It has a row of diamonds (short ways, not long ways) then two rows of pink sapphires and then another row of diamonds and this continues gradually all the way through blue, green, yellow, etc. It is very beautiful.

Thanks, Lorelei, Sharon!

Michelle, I love your FY bracelet. I think I need one of those...hahaha...silly considering I hardly wear any of my bracelets. I''ve switched to wearing a jade bangle on my right wrist this year since it''s supposed to bring me good fortune...we will see....

Well, one things for sure...they are stunning!

Yes. I think that every woman should have a good bracelet. Diamonds? Why not. But more importantly, if it''s something you love and want and will use...go for it! Beautiful jewelry is an investment.

Love, love, love your bracelet. That would totally be a staple for me...if I could afford it!

The only ''staples'' in your jewelry wardrobe should be pieces you love. It doesn''t matter what anyone else has or does. Jewelry is an art form; it should reflect your personal taste, not trends . . . unless you really love a certain trend.

I''ll confess that I have a certain distaste for ''ubiquitous'' jewelry looks. Diamond circle pendants come to mind.

I used to love wearing bracelets but have to confess that I no longer wear them. I always wear my ering, promise ring, watch and my diamond stud earrings - those are my staple pieces

I have a couple of tennis bracelets and I love them both, however, I seldom wear them in my line of work (on computers all day) I find they get in the way and get banged up quite a bit so I just dont wear them, if I dress up and go somewhere then I will wear a bracelet of some sort (I have others that are plain gold) but most of time I just dont wear them....I should sell them or something.....

I love tennis bracelets - very classic and elegant - especially those with a "generous budget"! I like the full bezel style.

Of course, another option would be a high carat eternity ring [like 14 carats+] maybe even in a fancy cut.

ETA If the budget is sufficient, an art deco bracelet with sapphires, or rubies, or emeralds would be really special too.

What's the budget? [if you would like to share, of course] MS Rau has some gorgeous ones [but their prices seem unnecessarily steep]. I'm sure there are other great sources if this is the choice that is appropriate.

I love the look of a thin tennis bracelet worn with an antique deco watch.

Holly, I agree -- I don''t like the trends that are created just to be a trend. But I do think there are some classics, and a tennis bracelet to me is like a solitaire e-ring. It may not be the most popular thing at a given moment, but it will always be in style.

I definitely wouldn''t turn up my nose at a tennis bracelet. I love bracelets and wish I had one with bling :)

I inherited one and I love it. I thought I had pics of it on my computer but apparently I deleted them since the quality wasn''t very good. Mine is a bit less expensive of a piece. I would say the diamonds are maybe .2 carats each but each is set in a square link of the bracelet so it puts a bit of an illusion on it. I get complements on it every time I wear it. No i don''t wear mine daily, usually just when I dress up. But if I do silver accessories its my go to bracelet. I''ll probably pass it on to my children as well. Its a beautiful heirloom piece that I don''t think could possibly go out of style.

Hahaha...if we were living nearer to each other, we could do temporary swops. One of my closest GFs and I used to do that all the time until she moved to Melbourne. My other GF''s are the kinds you want to "kill", they are wearing ring sizes 3 and 4.25 - arghhhhhhh...why didn''t I get blessed with small fingers, I''m Chinese too

I think a tennis bracelet of asscher diamonds would be amazing! You don''t see those very often so it is a unique take on a staple.
HI:

I should have one to match MY ring!
2.gif
I did see one IRL and it was devine, but 12ctw and too large and $$.

I was kinda thinking of a gold link bracelet with a couple of diamond links, KWIM? Does that sound good?

cheers--Sharon
Ah, Sharon a heavy gold bracelet with a couple pave links - my dream bracelet. I''ve looked for years. DVF has one that is close, but not quite.
I know I''ve seen a few that kinda come close to that.
I don''t wear my tennis bracelet anymore. 9-10cts, yellow gold, semi-bezel. I''m wanting to have it replated - just keep forgetting.

I just want whatever is in Catmom''s jewelry box. . . or on her arm/hand/neck/ears at any given moment.

If the traditional line bracelet won't do it and you're looking for something more "simple" for everyday wear, I'd try this route. One of my fellows PSers had similar criteria and found this.

It's simple milgrain, 2.5 pointers, and can be stacked.
