I don''t think it will ever go out of style. A nice one is expensive enough that I would only get it if I wore it on a regular basis.

A lot of pretty variations have been put up here, but I really love the one Allison D put up.

The only ''staples'' in your jewelry wardrobe should be pieces you love. It doesn''t matter what anyone else has or does. Jewelry is an art form; it should reflect your personal taste, not trends . . . unless you really love a certain trend.

I''ll confess that I have a certain distaste for ''ubiquitous'' jewelry looks. Diamond circle pendants come to mind.

Holly, I agree -- I don''t like the trends that are created just to be a trend. But I do think there are some classics, and a tennis bracelet to me is like a solitaire e-ring. It may not be the most popular thing at a given moment, but it will always be in style.

I definitely wouldn''t turn up my nose at a tennis bracelet. I love bracelets and wish I had one with bling :)
I just want whatever is in Catmom''s jewelry box. . . or on her arm/hand/neck/ears at any given moment.

I think they are a staple, and in fact am hoping to recieve one as a push present very shortly. That said, I have very traditional tastes (my e-ring is a solitaire set in platinum, my wedding band is a platinum five stone band and I wear diamond studs daily). When/if I get a tennis bracelet, I would plan to wear it almost every day. I think that a tennis bracelet is similar to studs, that it goes with everything from jeans to an evening gown. My issue with some of the other styles of diamond bracelets that have been posted here is that while very lovely, they seem formal to me and would not get much wear given my lifestyle. Since I am not at a point in my life where I can have many bracelets that costs thousands of dollars, I personally would prefer a tennis bracelet that can be worn almost anywhere to a different style of diamond bracelet that would sit in my jewelry box most of the time. However, your friend may very well have different tastes or a different lifestyle than I do.
+1

i received one as a push present earlier this year and definitely consider it a staple of my collection. it's easy enough to wear with jeans for an evening out and to much more formal occasions as well. having said that, i think everyone's version of a "classic" is different and you should get only what you LOVE regardless of whether it fits into anyone else's definition :)

I think a diamond bracelet of any kind is lovely and a versatile piece for sure.

I do love the asscher idea, and the one that AllisonD posted.

I remember in the 80s when I was a kid all the ladies where I lived had tennis bracelets, but now that I''m in my 30s, I don''t see anyone wearing them anymore. I wouldn''t consider it an essential, but I have seen some really beautiful diamond bracelets, so if you want one, go for it!

Please describe moss on snow or better yet, show a photo. I love jade (as you could probably tell from my name. I named myself online after Lin Dai Yu, ,my favorite character in a novel that I like a lot).

My tennis bracelet is one of my all-time favorite pieces of jewelry, and I wear it every day (unless I''m going to the barn). It''s 4.5 carats, set in 14k yellow gold, and I couldn''t care less if some people think it looks like a throwback to the 80s. It''s exactly what I wanted. Also, it has a lot of sentimental value to me. Although every quality piece of jewelry I own was bought for me as a gift by DH, my tennis bracelet is the only one he picked out totally by himself with zero input from me. He did an AWESOME job and I''m SO proud of him! The diamonds are very high-quality and well-cut. In my opinion (which is the only one that counts, since it''s my arm and my bracelet), it''s a classic and timeless piece that will NEVER go out of style!
