I will have an appointment with the jeweller next weekend to finalise on the design of my wedding band. I have a round solitaire and fell in love with a 5 stone band.

Engagement ring is 1.84ct and wedding band is 0.75tcw, so around 3.5mm. finger size 3.5

Do you think this is a good balance? Is the band too overpowering? The band is not my size, so when it’s customized to my size it should look less like a bar across the top and more rounded.

Also what is your view on shared u prong vs the Tiffany shared prong. Is one more secure than the other? I can see more diamond in the u prong but is it secure?

Feel free to post photo of your rings.

.

I see two rings that would be great worn one at a time or together.

I do not have strict preferences, truth be told...

I fell for a 5 stone as well, I think what you have paired is nice. It stands out a bit due to the mixed metals, so you plan on having one made in the same metal of your engagement ring?

Same metal platinum, unfortunately they only had a gold one for me to try on.

I'd go with a 7 stone band with smaller stones, like no more than about 10 points each. So 7 stones at .70-.75. I do think that competes a bit with your engagement ring.

Watch out for the girdles of the stones on the band. Looks like it sticks up high enough that it will hit the prongs of your e-ring. You may need a lower set band, or a style of setting that does not allow the girdles to hit a ring next to it.

Good point, I might add a spacer in between.

Another vote for slightly smaller and 7 across. I feel it will give better balance and not compete with your stunning engagement ring.
So at least try on a smaller diamond size / 7 stone ring to check if the look appeals or not.
All that said, it’s your ring so wear exactly what YOU love.

I don't hate it but I think it competes a bit with your ER. How about wearing the band on your other hand? But if you do want to wear them together if you love the look I agree with @LLJsmom and @Jacqui1616 and @Acinom about wearing a spacer in between the rings to prevent damage.

What she said.

I think I’m in the minority too but I think they look nice together. I have a Brian Gavin 3/4 eternity band that I use as a wedding band most days with a spacer in between. The eternity band has .15 point stones..

I love the look and especially with sparkly spacer!

Thanks for the suggestion!

I also like the idea of wearing it on the other hand if I want the ER to stand out. But I think there’s a half size difference between my two fingers.

There seem to be a 50:50 split, so I feel either way it should be fine. I am going to try on more rings to make up my mind

I like the 5 stone, but....those are .15ct, right? I’d be interested in .10 or .12 - in other words, I think it’s a gorgeous and classic look, but it’s just a tad overpowering in those proportions. Good luck.

Not at all. I love the band and size of the stones. Plus the larger the stones the more you can wear it standing alone.

I have a 20 point 5 stone that I wore with a 1.70 previous stone and I enjoyed the bling. You do have to be careful of the girdles of the stones, they cut through metal like butter.
