My wedding set is most definitely insured. Anything above $2000 is also insured. There are a few things on the policy I should probably take off. As others have said, I would be very worried about wearing my jewelry--and even having it in the house--unless it was insured. Several years ago, my next door neighbor's house caught fire. All of the contents in the house were lost. You just never know

I insure mine but I cannot get a stand alone policy so I am sure that if I do claim they will try to wrangle out of it; just a hunch

$40.56 per 1k to insure so it is not cheap.
sooo...for a 20k e-ring that would cost like $900 per yr ?

X that by 40 yrs...

= $36,000.

This is my problem DF. Thankfully I do not pay that much - only about $250 p/a but that is still $10,000 (If I only live another 40 years

). Now that is not near replacement value but it is money for nothing

My e-ring is insured. I wouldn''t be able to afford to buy my ring again if it was damaged, lost or stolen. And I wouldn''t buy my ring again either even if I did have the extra money. Plus, I like having piece of mind and not worrying about it. Why have a ring if I don''t even wear it.

I just switched insurance companies from Chubb which was costing me a little over $1300 a year to Jewelers Mutual which cost me $870. And that was for just one ring.

I just got a new pear and I want to get it appraised as I got a good price on it so I can insure it as well. I figure the price to insure both rings will still be cheaper than the price to insure just the one with Chubb.

That's insanely expensive! I have my wedding set insured with a stand-alone Chubb policy, and it's only $315 or so for a year for $20,000 coverage. And everyone says Chubb is the most expensive insurer! Now I feel like I got a deal.
