Is This A Men’s Ring?

Love everything about it, but wife says it’s a girls ring.

Anything’s a man’s ring if a man wears it.
But alas if you don’t like it I will keep a lookin.

I strongly think that's a male-leaning ring, although I'd happily wear it lol

That diamond was fabulous. And I love the engraving. But there's no gender neutral where I live. There's no one with an open mind. And the wives dictate the terms. If my wife says it's a girl ring I can't have it. I'm gonna look at it again because the price was good too. But yeah, I just don't live in a free and open minded place.

No I understand exactly what you mean.
I do think any ring is gender neutral - but I also understand perception matters.

I was just excited that ticked a lot of your boxes. Lol!

it's a man's ring if a man wears it! it's a women's ring if a woman wears it!

You’d have to replace the Gems in these rings with a diamond.

I love this one from Niel it’s perfect. It is large size (can be resized bigger) and the shank is thicker than what I’m seeing - sturdy. 18k white gold, really rare to find high purity white gold in men’s rings. Nice looking Old European Cut with a culet. I’m guessing Art Deco. This ring visually works and good size diamond.

Just my opinion tho!

It’s perfect but I want a bigger diamond though. Neil is the nicest person ever to keep searching for me!! Last night I searched in Chicago. Some of the stores had a huge selection of filigree engagement rings. Good prices too! But didn’t find anything for me. Might search in LA today. Thanks again to everyone!

How big do you want? Diameter in mm, and what cut style?

If you are going big, you should understand what you want.
Cut styles REALLY vary. Your own Color tolerance, 3D dimensionality of the diamond, light return REALLY vary. So, please educate yourself on your true antique preference before searching. Also, 2 carat plus antique diamonds are expensive, starting around $7,000 for low color clarity. Youmight want to consider Lab OEC, or other modern antique cut.

IMO, if you are going big, a newly made replica setting is your best bet, because men’s rings typically did not have large or high quality diamonds. You will not find a 1.5 carat Diamond plus in a 1930s men’s ring, IMO. You’ll have to make it.

This seller sent me an offer of about $900 USD I believe. I also thought this was a great option. A skilled jeweler can easily replace the diamond.

I love the wheat sheaf engraving on the sides. A little surprise, reminds me of Diego Rivera paintings. I love the iconic symbolism engraved onto jewelry of that time. I also think a skilled jeweler could put a few tiny French cuts on either side of the central stone on this setting, as was typically done in this style.

Problem is a large diamond is going to be difficult to find in the setting you like.
The ring style is a dangerous combination of not very popular and thick. It has to make it through a time with high gold prices without somebody saying “let’s melt this unpopular setting and sell the diamond loose”. And considering the tings older, that’s every few decades somebody’s probably considering melting them down.

And I’m happy to look. Keeps me from looking for my own things. lol

Would you consider maybe one that’s less ornate and having it custom engraved ?

Woops that’s already here lol

Interesting idea! I don't even know what's possible. So I don't know how to answer

Look at this. Wife said no. She's getting mad that I like girly stuff. She wants me to stop. But guys look at this - could the shank be thickened? Because that's her main complaint. She says skinny shank = dainty girl. But to me, this filigree is not girly. No plants, no vines, no flowers. And look at the freakin date!!!

What about this? New old stock, large size. Think band, very masculine. Your jewler would carve out the seat for the diamond and there is flexibility because it’s never been set before. I’d guess it could hold anywhere from 1ct to 1.5 or more.
