Is This A Men’s Ring?

This one looks fantastic to me. Only if it’s returnable, I strongly suggest you try it on and consider a smaller but lively stone. Love this stone, crown height color faceting. The setting is gorgeous. Only if you Secure the ability to return though.

Does not list diamond color unless I'm missing it. Why is this one exciting?

I think quality of the setting carving/design plus 18k. Diamond looks nice it’s high crown, I like big crowns.

However if not returnable not worth risk. I still think Niels find is best so far.

That’s an I1. So maybe they will.

This diamond will not make you happy in person. Especially if you’re concerned about it having value after you’re dead.

This might have already been posted.

There are bubbles in the metal, indicating an error in the casting, but it’s worth checking out

That one on top, I watch it on eBay and they sent me an offer for 6350 - so I’d low ball at 5500 (if you like it. You might think it’s too feminine which is fine )

If you are open to rhodium plating the yellow gold, to give the appearance of white gold, here’s one just over 2ct.

My wife is losing her mind! We love it. So now I have to start my search all over again looking at yellow gold. Question, can we find this ring listed elsewhere? I don't really like this website. I'd be more comfortable talking to the seller directly

Edit: Ok I did a search and apparently therealreal has it. Not the seller. And I don't see a way to make an offer. Bummer.

Chip but a clean slate for engraving and the chip is forgivable honestly

Ok here are the pics of the ring from realreal. They make you sign up to see the pics. I don’t know how I’m going to get a video from them.

IMG_9847.jpegIMG_9848.jpegIMG_9849.jpegIMG_9850.jpeg

Also found this on google image search. Not sure what’s going on here. Reproduction? Old, but original diamond was removed?

Edit: my wife is continuing to flip out over this yellow gold ring. She just said “the sides are so amazing! I’ve never seen anything like that.”

Hopefully I can figure out how to interact with this website.

Update: that website seems like a complete scam. They do provide an email, [email protected] but I'm almost certain they'll refuse to provide me any additional information.

For fine jewelry therealreal.com has borderline illegal terms of service haha:

Final edit: email from [email protected] is not a vaild email address. Website is a scam imo. Ok moving on.

I’m glad you both like it! The RealReal is a legit site. A lot of people here buy and consign their items with them. I’ve purchased quite a few things with no problems. There’s a whole thread here with finds from TRR = The RealReal.

You have to be comfortable and feel good about your purchase though, so if this one doesn’t work out, I’m sure you will be able to find something else :) .

Having a fake email address like gemologist@therealreal,com is pretty damning. Their TOS are completely irresponsible. First hand experiences shared on Reddit confirm all my fears. I don’t think they have a bright future. Ebay is wonderful. The authentication process has already saved me from the very ring I started this thread with. The yellow sapphire was not natural, as the seller claimed, and I got all my money back instantly with no questions asked. Superb

Fyi the real real is a legit site. Their returns policy is solid and items are typically very fairly priced. Ive bought and sold a bunch of stuff w them. But you can't make an offer or get video unfortunately

Ok I’m done talking about realreal. There’s absolutely zero way to communicate with the company on an i1. There is no GIA certification. I have no way of knowing where the inclusion is or what it looks like. I’m not doing business with them. Thanks for sharing your opinions. But I’ve moved on.

still good! Shows that there are yellow gold options you like out there. There more you explore and expand your style the more change of finding something you like.

And you didn’t like how yellow that one from the weekend was- you wouldn’t have like the real real one

I know I know this is too small.
BUT
500 and exactly what you want and an actually pretty nice diamond.
Maybe just get 2 lol

If you can put this ring on a credit card and buy it to look at it, I’d recommend that.

In terms of the center stone, it looks like an OEC cut with a slightly wider table. So I suspect it’s got a larger diameter than normal, equating to more bang for the buck.

Regarding the SI2-I1 designation, even magnified I can’t see why this designation is given. Maybe with a loupe you will see it. I’m seeing comparatives in that size and SI1 for higher prices. I’m not saying you have to accept an SI2 diamond (the RR always gives a range), but I’ve got a huge amount of tolerance for inclusions in antique diamonds, especially when you can’t tell what they are, and they are priced accordingly. To me the RR color designation seems to indicate a lighter stone than what it looks like in the photo (REMEMBER diamonds will look warmer in yellow gold sunken settings). Their color assessments have been fairly accurate in my purchases, but maybe you could look at comps in O-P or lower range. To me, the stone looks like it could be very pretty.

The RealReal will not give you videos or be that great at purchase inquiries. That being said they have a straightforward and easy return system, its a known entity. I have had a very easy time as a customer with this company. I’ve even spoken personally to one of their gemologists.

This setting is authentic and heavy, the stone is original, IMO.

Last and most importantly, your wife loves it and is thrilled by it. I think your best bet is to review this ring in person before someone else buys it. You can always return it (easily seamless). These are just my thoughts/opinion.

Ps here’s a thread on Willy The Beast. This spectacular diamond was found on RR. It’s a story that happens all the time, so I would not write off the RR for old diamonds and settings.

I really thought about buying it and wearing 2 rings. But $500 could be the difference between $6000 and $6500. So I gotta be patient.

You guys are experts and all of you are pressuring me. There must be a reason. Maybe I’m being stupid

Edit: they did say RBC and it has a culet. Maybe their errors are to my advantage.

But at the end of the day maybe it’s just too expensive

It’s $7650 with tax. The jeweler I bought my wife’s ring from said the diamond is probably worth $6000 - $6500. So you guys are right, it’s a good price. My wife wants to get it. But since it’s more than we planned to spend she says we should wait a month.

I also really like this one. Yes the diamond is smaller than you want, but a well cut stone is paramount. And the setting is large and in charge.

They are pressuring because they are OG deal hunters and know one when it spits on your face.

You are hunting at the nexus of "take a chance": want a deal, want a real antique, want a deal (did I say that?). All of us have taken chances on diamonds that were not described well or didn't have papers or what have you. I get it isn't for everyone. But so many regulars have bought from TRR. You just have to be prepared to return it bc the pictures, service, and descriptions are often way way off. In exchange, you pay much less than you might at other stores.

All that said, if this isn't the right time financially or it costs more than you want to spend, don't so it. I happen to love that one about 3k I posted about earlier. Maybe not the dream 2ct but still a whole lotta ring and a beautifully cut diamond which is the ultimate.

(BTW if you are imagining this ring being an heirloom it will retain value better if the stone is very well cut and doesn't have chips or very large inclusions which scare most people off).

Yeah I get it now. I realized you guys know what you're talking about and I don't. I really didn't plan to spend this much. But my wife wants the ring. Her end of the month deadline is arbitrary, but I'm not gonna argue with her. So let's see what happens.
