Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on this stone:

http://www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.com/Sapphires/Pink/Cushion/stoneid=P293

It''s a light pink sapphire that I am currently considering purchasing. I know the deeper/darker pinks are worth more but I actually like that this stone is a light pink and different from the norm. It is rose cut in a "cushion" shape. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,
ulualoha

Thanks Ninama! I appreciate you taking the time to write back! I have to tell you, The Natural Sapphire Company is a dream to deal with! I am SO impressed with how they do business! I would highly recommend them if you decide to be bad like I was! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Many hugs,

To be honest, I don''t care for it. You can see the inclusions and the stone is off center. It is up to you though, if you could be happy with it.

Linda

I appreciate your honesty Linda- that''s what I am looking for. I love that the color is so different but I also don''t want to get something that is a bad buy if that makes sense? Thank you for sharing your opinion. It really is appreciated!!

I love the color of the stone. Pale pink is lovely. I, too, am a person who really has an eye for the lighter shades. As for the stone itself, I would probably pass. The inclusions are noticeable and it is a bit off center. Personally, it also a bit on the oblong side for me as well.

Hi ulualoha!

The sapphire looks nice - I love the color - but you may want to ask some questions about it. I'd ask if there are any windows. I'd ask about the brilliance. You may have to see it in person in order to make a final decision.

I bought a light green sapphire from the Natural Sapphire Company and was disappointed with it in person. The description said IF, Flawless, but there was a huge cleavage under the table and a big spot just under the girdle. The stone looked incredibly brilliant in the video, but in person it was not as impressive. I wound up returning it.

I wouldn't let the off-centered keel bother me. It is quite common in gemstones cut to maximize weight and brilliance. Sapphires are different than diamonds in this respect.

Hi Joolskie,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have been back and forth on the pink stone for the past few days. In real (I have it on loan right now from TNSC), it''s very sparkley and because it''s so pale, I can''t really see the inclusions just looking down so I decided to spring for it only because the color is just so pretty. I guess that means I will have to be creative on how I set the stone! But since it is "antiquey" (not sure if that''s a real word), I may try to find something from an antique store. We''ll see. Anyhow, I just wanted to say thanks- I really appreciate your feedback! Happy holidays to you!

Hugs,

Hi Starryeyed,

Well it''s funny because I just read your response after buying the pink sapphire. I did borrow it from the NSC (how cool are they for letting you do that!). In person it''s sparkley and the color is so pretty. I figured if I set it in the right mounting, the stone will be what shows...hopefully not any of the inclusions. I wanted to say thanks for your response though- I really appreciated it! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Many hugs,

Glad you have found a sapphire to your liking.

I hope you consider adding some diamonds to the setting - they really make gemstones pop.

Sounds like a nice little holiday gift for yourself - enjoy!

Hi Starryeyed....

I was very bad period- you see, I had 5 sapphires in my possession for 5 days. I had already ordered a yellow one but then I saw the pink one and I fell in love but my heart was arguing back and forth between the pink and the purple one. Pink won out obviously. Here was my naughty girl present for my yellow sapphire

You are right, the diamonds make the stone spring out of the setting. I was so lucky- the setting I found was 80% off. I just happened to notice it while I was waiting to be helped. I can''t wait to get it back! I hope you have a wonderful night Starryeyed...thanks so much again!

Hugs,

That yellow sapphire looks like a wonderful find! I LOVE sapphires - they come in so many colors. Given all the choices, I''d say you were pretty "good"!
