Is this stone good for an engagement ring?

Hi folks,

I''m a recent lurker to this forum as my partner and I are currently in the process of designing a pink sapphire ring for my engagement ring (untraditional i know, but that''s how we are).

I am quite taken by this stone - the specs are 1.35 ct with dimensions of 8.75 x 5.96 x 3.28. I would like to have it set with a pronged halo and thin diamond set band.

As I am completely clueless on gems in general (this will be my first stone purchase) I''d love to hear your opinions on a) if this size is appropriate for a ring (finger size 6.5) and b) if the colour would be too light (I much prefer the pastel pinks to the bright pink sapphire - but don''t want the ring to look like I''m pretending it''s a pink diamond).

In answer to your questions

1) I''ve been looking online at the dealers that have been suggested on this forum (palagems, ajs, cherrypicked etc). This stone is from one of them. I''ve tried some local jewellers and gem dealers (I''m in Australia) but none have had any pink pears.
2) Our budget for the whole ring is 4 to 5k - this stone has been quoted at around $1400.
3) The size of the stone we''re looking for is at least 1 ct...preferably larger.
