Is this weird? (present related)

So I bought my first gift of my wedding season(possibly 7-9 weddings.)

Well one of my friends who is getting married mentioned something about her presents and I told her about how I bought my first gift. She asked what it was, and I wouldn''t tell her(and another friend that''s getting married was there.) I don''t want to tell her because I don''t want her to compare what I get other people with what I get her or how much I spent.

Well I told BF about this and said it was really weird that I didn''t tell her even after her asking.
I just really don''t want her to expect a certain amount from me, since by the time her wedding rolls around I might not be able to put in that much.
So I''m just wondering if you all think it''s odd that I didn''t tell her what I got another couple.

I'm sure that the friend probably thought that it was her gift that you bought seeing as you wouldn't tell her what the price is. I'm normally pretty open with things though so personally unless it was the specific gift for her, I would have just told her. Partly due to the fact that I wouldn't want her to buy the same thing.
