I normally am not a fan of pink, but saw this amazing ring at a local jewelers and asked what it was and was amazed to find out it was a pink tourmaline!

It was a splint shank cable style white gold (I think) and pave diamond halo david yurman checkboard faceted pink tourmaline. It looked just like this only a deep pink. THe same color as a White Merlot wine...stunning.

So now i'd llike to find a loose Pink Tourmaline to maybe make my own version...or can I buy a DY setting and have it set?

Be careful of pink tourmaline. I have found out that many of the faceted stones coming from Brazil and Thailand are irradiated. Know who you''re buyiing it from. Typically, it is not irradiated if it is coming from a USA facetor that obtains the rough from Africa. At least that was what I was told by a very well known and esteemed USA facetor.

I have to agree with TL about pink tourmalines being nuked. I too was shocked to hear this and was informed of this by several GGs and faceters only recently. I hear that only the vivd pinks are the ones being nuked.

You definitely can't buy a tourmaline and have it set in that setting. I'd just buy the David Yurman ring if you really loved it. If you tried to have that ring custom made in white gold (instead of sterling), I think it would cost too much relative to the price of tourmaline, personally. So again, just buy the original! They are pretty and fun rings!

(Most DY rings are sterling if they are in white metal. The yellow metal ones are gold.0

Oooppss thanks! I did absolutely love this piece but I unfortunately can't afford the 625 price right now...and I didn't even see it online in the pink tourmaline, so I'd have to pick it up at the local store and that was even pricier..

They also had a absolutely stunning purple sapphire that was set brilliantly...again pricey...but i drooled..
