Hello, jade ladies (and jade gentlemen, and jade nonbinary people, if we have any here)--

I bought this bracelet on ebay for very little money, so my expectations were low, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how pretty it is. I love it, but I will not be the tiniest bit hurt or sad if you tell me it's terrible quality, so please be honest! I know it is probably worth what I paid for it.

The seller described it as a sterling bangle set with genuine jade, a vintage estate piece. It's completely unmarked, but the bangle does appear to be silver--no idea if it's sterling or some other alloy. It's set with 20 beveled jade octagons, each 10mm wide from edge to facing edge, all different colors. There's dark green, light green, white with green flecks, various shades of red and orange, one black, and even one that's half purple, half almost yellow. The jade pieces are all clearly hand cut, not very even, and not very well polished, but the colors are lovely, and some are nicely translucent. They are attached to the silver bangle by studs through a hole in the center of each octagon, and the tops of the studs seem to be either gold or (more likely) gilded silver. They all seem securely attached. There are lines in the jade, but I don't see actual cracks or breaks.

Can anyone tell me when and where this bracelet was made? Is this a common type of bracelet? Is the jade likely to be treated? How should I clean it and care for it?

Here are a lot of photos taken by lamplight. I will take more tomorrow in daylight.

Thank you in advance, jade experts!

It’s lovely and really unusual and unique.
unfortunately no one can tell from photos if it is Jadeite or one of a number of other materials (ie serpentine, carnelIan, nephrite, onyx or Quartz) or if Jadeite if it is dyed/ treated.
The best way to clean silver is to buy an impregnated silver polishing cloth. You can also use a soft toothbrush and water with a dab of liquid soap to clean the stones but only a silver cloth will remove the tarnish from silver.

Oh its so pretty
Imange the stories it could tell

I hope you get lots of wear out of it
