what a joke. this is likely just so the baby is not born out of wedlock. I am certain they will end up divorced fairly quickly. Is she old enough to even sign the marriage license?

Not sure what the law is there. Thinking this will last 6 months at most.

I''m sure she''s old enough to get married, Louisiana''s in the South after all, though she probably needs a parent''s signature unless she is emancipated by her pregnancy.

But yeah, a nice long engagement is about the best we can hope for here... Are people still hung up on this babies-out-of-wedlock thing?

Well, I was engaged at 18 and we broke up a month later...my sister was married at 18 and divorced by 19. Neither was due to pregnancy, which would obviously add stress to the relationship, but man oh man, were we young and immature! I did meet my DH 1 year later, but we dated for 5 years before we got engaged. I know that it is possible for young marriages to last, but I just don''t see it happening here.

Sad. They have so much more growing up left to do. She needs to go to college, he needs to go - they need to meet new people - he needs to get a job... they don''t need to be tied down at this early stage. I thought I heard they weren''t even together when she got pregnant?

Hollywood marriages just boggle my mind.

When I first saw this headine - on people.com I thought ohh ring pic''s. Then the penny dropped. Uh oh!

Getting engaged/married young is not a bad idea of itself. But sometimes it is not a good idea. I wonder with the trauma her family have suffered of late and her pregnancy, if this isn''t a knee jerk reaction for some stability in her life.

Whatever the reasons, I wish her all the best.
