JCrew Goddess Dress

This is the dress of my dreams. I love it love it love it, however, I am not yet engaged, the engagement is coming late winter early spring, is it weird to buy the dress before becoming engaged. I am just worried if I wait I will miss it, JCrew changes their collections so often. By they way here is the link to th dress, I am tall and a little bottom heavy so I think this style will be flattering...

What''s the return policy? When are you planning on actually getting married? I''d be careful about buying a dress too far out. What if the style of your wedding changes? Also, many girls find that what they thought was their dream dress really isn''t and they end up buying a second dress (sometimes even a 3rd or 4th!).

I''d wait until you have a date and location before buying a dress.

The wedding is going to be in spring of 2009 so like 18 months away, but we already agreed on it being casual garden style wedding...

very pretty and simple! are you thinking you want a casual wedding??? the only thing that concerns me is there doesnt seem like there is much support in the top. Although i admit i agree with Robbie don''t forget you can find everthing on ebay!!!

Hmmm...18 months is kinda far away. Bella makes a good point about ebay, though I don''t see any on there yet. If I remember correctly, J Crew gives huge discounts when they''re about to discontinue something. Wasn''t it the Vivian that people were getting brand new for $40 or $50 a few months ago?

I agree. However, if you''ve got the cash to burn and this really does scream "I AM YOUR DRESS, PICK ME PICK ME!" ...then why not?

Just do keep in mind that your tastes and style may change between then and now. If you''re okay with taking the loss if/when you change your mind, then why not!

Soooooo think I will wait,if I miss it on their clearance section in a few months I am sure to find it on ebay in some time. I think you girls are totally right about waiting for it to go down in price, in case I change my mind I wont be such a big hit on the wallet!

The dress is gorgeous (I''m a huge fan of anything JCrew, especially bridal)!! And luckily eBay is a terrific source for JCrew-- start looking for it now-- you might be surprised!

I hope you have better luck than I did. I was looking around for dress ideas SEVERAL months ago and found one that just screamed "PICK ME PICK ME" It was PERFECT and pretty reasonably priced. Then about a month and a half ago I wanted to see it again and found out it was discontinued and haven''t been able to find it ANYWHERE! Including ebay. I thought about trying to get one custom made just like it but the dress was only about $600 and it would cost around $2000 to have it made. I''m hoping by the time BF actually does propose that I''ll get lucky and find it somewhere or something just like it.

I wish I would have had the money to just have bought it when I found it... then I could ahve sold it or something if I changed my mind.
