need some help
i am new to this and i would like some help on taking jewellery snaps
i want to take simple and good quality snaps
can anyone suggest a good simple camera along with any props required and any tips...hope im not asking for too much!
thanks

I use a Sony cybershot camera, its fine for the kind of photos I take (my ring and the children!).

I use the macro setting - its the little flower symbol - and keep the camera really still. I did buy a tripod but I find it easier just to keep my elbows tucked into my sides and just hold the camera.

There are loads of threads about taking photos - there is a search box up there on the right.

I''m partial to the Canon SD850, and I know at least half a dozen of the gals here on PS have it too and get unbelievably good photos on macro.

Does anyone know anything about the Canon Powershot SX100 IS? I''ve read a few reviews and it sounds like it *might* be what I''m looking for--I''d LOVE an SLR, but I don''t have the money for one at the moment, but I want the closest I can get to it in the $250-$300 price range. I''d prefer a Canon, but an open to other brands as well.

Thanks! Didn''t seem worthwhile to start another thread with this one open (and one in SMTR, and one in Shopping)...

s5is is a better camera if you can swing it.

Yeah, it''s on my wishlist but I don''t think I''ll have the funds to make it happen. Thanks, strmdr.

So close in price!! $300 was supposed to be my absolute upper limit, but...but...the S5 IS is on Amazon for $327... And how often does a woman turn 30?
