Catmom and LLJsmom are trendsetting in giving earlobes the attention they deserve with classics that can be taken from day to night. Sweets that combine well with jeans as well as an evening dress. Chique little things with a certain 'je ne sais quois' that POP on the earlobes.

Fabulously vintage

We have seen an increase in popularity here on PS regarding Antique, vintage and vintage inspired. How cool is it to wear a little bit of heritage on your finger. Which make it even more coveted heirloom pieces for generations to come.

We seen the search for vintage both in (newly cut?) old cut stones as well as in vintage or vintage inspired settings.

UNEXPECTED RESETS

Iconic solitaires have been reset in 2014! Unexpected resets. Because these PSer already have the most gorgeous rings you can imagine.
Lknvrb's and MissKittyKat's followed their hearts and took the plunge. In both cases the outcome is as gorgeous as their beautiful solitaire.

And BrightIce sold her stunning piece with french cut sides. Her reset has a highly romantic reason. We are awaiting her reveal impatiently. While Diamondseeker is still contemplating about a possible reset. Silently we are hoping she will keep her iconic solitaire. Until she finds her dream ring.

I think we'll still see a lot of micropave in the form of halos and on delicate, vintage-inspired pieces. I think we'll also see a swing towards sidestones (3-stone and 5-stone rings). I think solitaires are not going to come back yet.

The Blingytaire movement flirts with the blingy halo and 3- or 5- stone rings, as well as with the elegant solitaire:

The Blingytaire is THE statement look for those of us who fancy a -less-is-more solitaire, but combined with a good dosis of additional bling. The Blingytaire is not new. We saw plenty of Blingytaires in the Art Deco period for example. But here on PS we have seen quite a few lately and it's here to stay!

I agree that we will see an upswing in 3- and 5- stone rings
I also feel that the solitaire was never actually gone and continues to go strong. The simple elegance and less is more look is hard to deny. It also creates endless opportunities for a stacked look when you feel like it. Like this:

Green relates to the back to nature trend. Clearly, there is a flattering green for everybody! And, while green is a color you notice from across the room, it has this subdued elegance at the same time. What's your gorgeous green?

5 CT IS...

Ok, I admit that till sofar 5 ct is the new 4 carat instead of the new 2 carat as predicted.
However, Mom2boys new ring had quite some impact! Will more 5 ct stones be added in 2014?

So.... It's time for a little 'I told you so', since RandG has single handedly crushed the Q2 figures by presenting her 5 ct antique cushiony roval. It's a beauty! And she sure is BIG. Look at that spread.

Is 5 ct the new 2 ct after all?
