Well, we just could not resist. The spessartites on www.customgemstones.com kept calling our name. So a week or two ago we asked Dan to cut a spessartite in a round of appx 2 - 2.5 carats. I am not sure if I would call it Fanta or not, but it sure is beautiful! My husband had more of a preference for a lighter orange, but I liked the deeper red-oranges, so I think this is a great stone that is right in the middle of that range.

It is a round brilliant 2.30 carat stone, measuring 7.9mm (should fit nicely in an 8mm setting). According to Dan, it appears to be a deeper, somewhat reddish mandarin orange. Here goes! (drumroll)

Nice!!! Can you post another pic of it for us when it arrives?

I too have been checking out his site a lot these days. I''m looking for some type of garnet but haven''t decided what type yet. People seem to be getting some nice spessartite this week.

Ooooo, from the picture it looks like it will be a gorgeous stone! I can''t wait to see what it looks like in person. Do you know how you are goingto set it?

I''m not sure if it''s still around, but there was (when I was younger) an orange soda called Fanta. I think that''s where the name comes from...bright light orange, no red...kinda like the inside color of a real orange fruit.

Still going strong in the UK - nasty sickly stuff... but great spess colour!

Gorgeous spess, I was admiring some of dan''s spess and hoping someone around here would buy one!! I look forward to seeing your pics and what you are going to do with it!

I remember Fanta. Was it in the US too?
