aw dagnabbit.... i clicked on page 2 with all this built-up anticipation and excitement..... and no pics yet!!! well, i guess that is what i get for not putting myself out there with guesses, but i am dying to see your new spess Chrono!!!

It looks like you are getting the perfect stone I want for a RHR cut there chrono...I have a feeling I''ll be turning green shortly!

I''m so sorry everyone, I had to leave earlier than expected but it wasn''t for anything terrible. Family duties. Well, I blame it on Harriet as she made my spess craze even worse. I would never have considered a stone this big. 1 to 2 carats is plenty big for me. 3 to 4 carats is huge. 5 carats is out of this world so I blame this on Harriet.

Pieface wins the last question. This stone is 5.03 carats measuring 9.6 mm. It is a medium light yellowish orange (yO4/6) for those who are familiar with the GIA colour grading. Eye clean from Tanzania. The stone was estimated to cut anywhere from 3 to 5 carats but Jeff thought it''ll most likely be around 4 carats. It could either be a round or a square cushion. Naturally, I picked a square cushion.

He then suggested the best cutting design and showed me an example of the finished stone and I loved the faceting style. I''m sure all you Jeff White admirers already know but he knows which cut is suited to bring out the best in a stone. I approved it, he cut it and viola, here it is.

Of course, I''ll tease you a little more with this picture of the approval picture. A meralani mint garnet.

I''ve already decided that it''s too beautiful to set as a pendant so it''ll have to be in a ring - a protective ring that I can admire daily. I have no ideas as of yet though.

When you say protective, I am interested, is this a fragile stone that would need a bezel or more enclosed setting?

It isn''t as fragile as an apatite but it is much softer than a spinel. It is a garnet after all but I don''t think I want to do a plain bezel either which means my options might be limited.

OH MY GOD! I LOVE that mint cushion! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! And now there is a FIVE carat orange spess version that looks like it GLOWS. I can''t wait to see real life pics of that puppy.
