"Just Barely" Pregnant PS''ers

Charbie,

I am so sorry to hear to your news. I’ve been there and not matter what anyone tells you, your situation is unique as everyone feels pain differently. Take time for you, take time for your husband. I wish I could say there is rhyme and in reason in what happened to you, but I’m not so sure.

Hugs,

Thank you all again. Since I''m not comfortable talking about this over and over again with all the people in my daily real life, it is therapeutic to type this out and discuss what''s happening and not get the blank stares and people wanting to hug you all the time. I like (hugs) online...not so much the real ones...haha! So thank you all for the hugs and prayers.
Charbie,

We are all here for you and are I''m happy that we are able to be your therapy during this difficult time. I am also glad you like the online hugs, because I have plenty more where that came from...((((HUG)))), (((HUG)))

It sounds like you have an amazing DH and that''s great that he is being so supportive. I''m sure the dogs are being sweet too. If they are anything like my kitties, they will be at your side when you feel upset, taking care of you too
12.gif

Take care of you and please keep checking in (if you want/are able to) to let us know how you are doing.

charbie- I am so sorry. It really is amazing how immediately we get attached to our little beans. Make sure you take the time you need to heal and know that we are all here for you if you need us!

Since there isn''t anywhere else to put this, ill just catch everyone up and then hopefully be able to move forward.
I took 2 doeses of cytoctec, and it did not work. It caused horrible cramping, but no bleeding. So yesterday my amazing doctor called and set me up for a d&c in his office. Seriously, they have done a great job making up for the things that went poorly in the beginning. I was so scared to have a d&c not in the hospital, not under anesthesia, but he convinced me it would be ok since my cervix is soft from the cytotec. So, this morning I had the d&c, and while parts of it pinched and hurt, and I asked him how much longer a few times. I was able to talk with the nurses and doctor the whole time to try and keep my mind off of what was happening. The whole procedure was done in less than 20 mins.
So, that''s where I''m at now. I''m laying in bed, eating lemon drops and saltines, and cuddling with my puppies when they are being good and not trying to lick my face off. I''m taking tomorrow off work (a whole week off now...not really what I wanted but oh well) and looking forward to mint juleps at the kentucky derby next weekend. While id trade anything to go back to being prenant, I feel stronger and more ready for the next time it happens.

Charbie, So sorry to hear that you had to have the d&c, but in a way, it is good that you had it done early, so that you can begin to move forward. I didn''t know the procedure could be done in an office setting. Glad to hear that your doctor''s office is redeeming themselves and that you have your pups nearby to help you through. This has been a lot to go through in a short period of time.

You''re a strong lady, Charbie! Brighter days are ahead . . . .

Take care,
LV

Charbie, **hugs** I hope you start feeling better soon.

charbie
*hugs* hope you are feeling better.
i''m surprised they didn''t give you a twilight anesthesia for it.
hope your body recovers quickly.

Charbie,

((((Hugs))) I am sorry to hear that you had to resort to the D&C but I am glad that you could get a swift resolution, rather than a drawn out process. It sounds like your puppies are taking care of mommy and the diet of lemon drops and saltines should hold you over well. I hope you feel better soon (medically). Thanks for letting us know how you are doing and take care of yourself.

One more (((BIG HUG)))...

Lanie and Laila: How are you ladies doing?

Lanie, I know you were worried. Has it gotten any better? Hopefully the Dr.''s visit gave you a bit more reassurance.

Laila, How exciting to see the LO''s heartbeat! I hope you are well too!

And since April wouldn''t be complete with our 3rd "L" BFP, Lynnie how are things going on your end?

Good luck ladies!

Hugs Charbie! You have been so admirable. Once again, I''m so glad you have your DH through this.

Hi dcgator! Doing well, thanks for asking. Almost 7 weeks already! How are you doing?

Charbie -- Hope you can rest over the weekend and are back to feeling better soon. Big hugs for you and your DH.

Laila -- Hey! I''m feeling okay. I still feel sharp twinges that last for several seconds and freak me out, but they don''t last long. And tummy is sore. And boobs are sore, but that one night they weren''t was when I was so worried. Blood work came back great for me...first beta was 140 and 48 hours later it was 447! The first beta was done 14dpo, then second was 16dpo. They said progesterone levels and thyroid levels were all excellent, so I''m a little more relieved. Ultrasound next Thursday! I think I''m 10 days behind you if I counted correctly from one of your posts. I''m 5 weeks 2 days today. Are you going to find out the gender? Do you have any names picked out? It''s so fun! It''s like a little secret DH and I have! I love it! What are your symptoms these days?

dcgator -- Hey girl!!! Thanks for popping in! I sometimes feel a little left out on the TTC thread, but I completely understand why. I remember not really focusing on the girls that got pregnant, not because I was jealous, but more of "They''ve moved on, and I''m hopefully next, and I want to root for girls in my same position!" So thanks for asking about me. Slight nausea that comes and goes...I mostly feel sick after eating for about 30 minutes, then I''m fine. Maybe it''s indigestion? Who knows. I''m going to pop back to the TTC thread now to get updates!

Lynnie -- Where are you?!?!? How are you feeling?

Hi Lanie! I''m 6w5d, so yes, you''re only 10 days behind me. WONDERFUL news about your beta levels! Yay!
36.gif
I had mine tested again 4 days ago and they''re good--they were over almost 17,000 so the doctor said I''m right in range. DH and I are undecided if we want to find out the gender or not. Do you think you will? I have a really strong intuition that I''m carrying a boy though...had a dream about it too. Any intuition as to what you''re having? Symptoms...I don''t have hardly any! Only slightly sore boobs and getting up to pee more frequently. No real nausea whatsoever. It''s weird but I''m jealous of those who have morning sickness.

Charbie, I''m so sorry that you had to go through this but glad that the worst is over. Take care of yourself.

I would love to not know the gender, but I would drive myself crazy. DH is good either way. I think I''m having a boy too! I don''t know why, and I secretly want a boy first. But would honestly, just love a healthy baby! Don''t worry about the lack of nausea...I have 2 really good friends who just delivered a month ago, both with girls, who didn''t have a touch of nausea the whole time. One was cool about it, the other worried she never had a baby in there! I''m not sure if mine is nausea or not...it''s definitely something, but not necessarily a "run to the bathroom to throw up" feeling. Do you feel twinges and weird dull aches? 17,000 sounds like an awesome number!

35.gif
Here I am!!
9.gif

5w5d today... only 2 days ahead of Lanie, 8 days behind Laila!!
3.gif
It'll be nice to share the preggo journey with my "L" girls!!

Laila, I'm like you in that I don't feel many symptoms. No nausea at all... I'm really afraid it's gonna just hit me like a brick one of these days, though. Just tired, sore BBs, thirsty/peeing frequently. I do feel occasional twinges, Lanie... such a strange feeling!
Wednesday morning I freaked out, because I had a slight pinkish brown tinge when I wiped. Put a pad on, just in case, and proceded to check myself every 15 minutes or so. Nothing on the pad, no further tinges. It was weird. I didn't call my doc or anything... I don't think one SMALL spot should warrant an early visit (my 1st visit is May 4th). About 1/4 of all women have 1st trimester spotting, and reading splitshank's spotting thread helped. I don't think it could be implantation bleeding... Wed would've been 24DPO. And I've had no spotting since... so I'm feeling okay about it.

RE: Gender - I have no idea, no 'feeling' one way or the other... DH prefers a boy, it doesn't matter to me as long as it's happy and healthy. I don't want to find out at first - I'm gonna have the US person put the gender in an envelope, and have the bakery dye the baby shower cake either blue or pink, so everyone (including DH and I) finds out at the baby shower together. I think it would make for a good family moment, and give me an excuse to tear through the presents like a madwoman
10.gif
. The Dugger wife found out on Good Morning America that way - it's how I got the idea!

Are you two in that weird stage where some people know and some don't?? Besides the entire PS and PS lurker community, the only people that know IRL are my mom, DH's brother and his SO, and one girlfriend. We are going to tell my ILs tonight. I'm content to not tell anyone til 10 or 12 weeks, but DH is busting at the seams!
5.gif
I just worry... what if I MC? The more who know will mean more to tell bad news to...

Okay, I'm NOT ending this on a Debbie Downer note!!

Isn't it weird how our little beans are connected? Maybe they'll all have the same birthday!! Do you have names picked yet??
3.gif

DC! Awaiting good news from you!!!

Lynnie, I saw how Anna Dugger did that with the cake, and think that's a super cute way to find out the gender too!! I love it!
9.gif
Your shower will be full of excitement! Sorry about the spotting scare, but I'm sure it was nothing.

As for who knows, so far no one knows our news yet except me, DH, and my doctor! We're planning on telling everyone for either Mother's Day (I'll be 9 weeks) or Father's Day (15 weeks!). Not sure which one yet. I want to do the 'I love Grandma' or 'I love Grandpa' picture frames for our parents.

December will be hopping on the Preg thread, that's for sure. Anyone worried about having their baby's birthday be too close to Christmas?

Hello barely preggos... I am 8 weeks as of today and certainly do not feel barely preggo anymore
14.gif
The queasies started around 5 weeks, and it has been downhill since then. Morning sickness is a joke! I wake up feeling sick and it just gets worse all day until the evening hours when it seems like a full blown flu has descended. And then my exhaustion forces me to bed at 8 pm so I can wake up to pee in the middle of the night and not be able to fall back to sleep because I feel so pukey. UGH!

On top of that, I am super annoyed with myself because I have been eating to slightly ameliorate the nasties. And now I am a lump because I am too tired/exhausted to work out. This gaining weight in the first tri is really stressing me out... sigh, vent over. I am so excited and grateful for this baby but am terrified at the prospect of this continuing for months...
39.gif

I hope the slightly earlier preggos don''t get this all day sickness! However, I am trying to console myself with this recent study
3.gif
At least I can feel like I am "taking one for the team" Study links morning sickness to brighter children

re: gender talk. It would be cool and exciting to wait, but there is no way we will make it
3.gif

Laila- Do NOT be jealous of the morning sickness. Seriously! Of course, you may still get it yet... hehe (hope not!)

Lynnie- I''ve had some random barely spotting like that, too. And since I''ve already had an ultrasound, know there is no pool of old blood in there waiting to escape. It''s weird, but normal so try not to stress about it! Ugh and I am sooo with you on the weirdness of who knows and who does not. My preference was for most people at work not to know at least until 12 weeks, but doc appts and these nausea bands on my wrists have everyone asking. And I have not been denying (but asking them to please keep it quiet.) This stuff spreads quickly in my residency so most likely everyone knows by now
20.gif
Ironically, we still have not told my MIL! hahaha.

Ice-I hope that you feel better soon!!!

I lied - I''m 5w6d. Dang night shift made me mess it up this morning!

Icekid... sorry you''re getting bad MS! I hope you feel better soon too! Way to go on finding that study, though... a little consolation! I haven''t told anyone at work yet. I will probably have to sooner rather than later. I''m a nurse, and would be restricted from getting patients receiving chemo, or those on contact/droplet precautions (shingles, TB rule outs). I hope I can at least get to the 8 week mark before I have to tell the girls at work. Once one knows, I''m sure everyone will...
Good to know that I''m not alone on the spot issue, too. I swear, my heart just dropped when I saw that! Next Tuesday seems soooo far away! I''m jealous of you girls for knowing your beta levels already!!!

About Christmastime... my older brother''s birthday is Christmas day, and he hates it! He feels like he gets jipped. I am actually excited about the timing. More for selfish reasons - if all goes well, I''ll have the whole months of Dec, Jan and Feb off. I worked this past Christmas and Christmas Eve
14.gif

I am a little worried about Christmas time though, too... I''m just thinking, Christmas, baby''s birthday, DH''s bday in early January makes for one expensive month!!!
23.gif
9.gif

So we''re telling MIL tomorrow. BIL''s SO is preggo (due mid Nov), and MIL called me today asking for Mother''s Day gift ideas for her!!! Talk about awkward!!!

Hi ladies! Sorry I'm kind of out of the loop lately but I sure hope everyone and their beans are doing well! I had a bad bout of stomach flu on Wednesday that knocked me out. I was afraid it was MS gone terribly wrong but my sister said no way would it wake you up every single hour at night, it has to be the flu. That among other symptoms, and yep, it was the flu. ICK!! I was a little (lot) nervous because I knew I was getting so dehydrated. You realize quickly how much you don't care about how you feel and want to make sure the little one is ok! All is better now, other than some MS that comes and goes. I found lemon drops to be a lifesaver. I get the coughs, which leads to gags, in the shower, so I tried a lemon drop while in there (it was kinda weird 'eating' in the shower) and it helped! My worst times seem to be about 10 am and about 4 pm, no matter if I eat or not. Hopefully it passes! 9 weeks today :)

We told the in-laws last night... FIL's bday was yesterday so we wrapped up some "I love grandpa" bibs. He was really excited. The MIL, well, her response was pretty much as expected.
20.gif
It doesn't really surprise me as she sure doesn't strike me as the excited grandma type. Which is a complete opposite of my mother, who can't stop talking about the baby and shopping apparently! She's a sucker for a baby deal haha!

I am afraid to go back and lose my post, but if it was in this thread (I was bouncing back and forth earlier) about the spotting Lynnie, I hope everything goes great! The on call dr. that I had to see the first time with spotting says it can happen more than just the 'big time'. Mine was around week 5, so it can defintely happen after when most consider the implantation to occur. I guess the little guy's just diggin in and getting settled in his new pad!

How''s everyone doing? I still feel the same. I count each day without M/S a blessing!
I had to spill the beans at work. I got assigned a patient getting chemo
40.gif
A little annoying (my BFF doesn''t even know!), but necessary. Now I''m worried about someone posting on my FB wall! Ugh...
Hope you''re all doing well!!! And Noel, feel free to post!

Good morning ladies!

I feel like with all of the new births over on the preggo board we''re running low. Just want to extend an invitation for you to join us over there. We don''t care what stage you''re at and the more the merrier!!

Lynnie-I too had no m/s really during the 1st trimester. I had one day early on, maybe 4.5-5 weeks where I was nauseous but I didn''t throw up. Then this week (19) I''ve sort of felt crappy again. Not sure why. Anyway, no m/s doesn''t mean your baby is not healthy and developing normally, some people can just handle the hormones better. My doc surmises that my stomach discomfort tolerance level is higher than normal because of my various stomach problems. It takes a lot to make me throw up.

IceKid-While I had no m/s, I was slammed with serious exhaustion from like day one of being pregnant so I stopped going to the gym. Subsequently I packed on about 12-15 lbs in the first trimester. Believe me, your appetite will settle down and your cravings will change to hopefully something other than carbs and sugar (where my cravings have resided). I''ve definitely seen some leveling out with weight gain over the past few weeks, though I''m still gaining.

Hi Lanie, Laila, Lynnie, SS and Icekid,

I just wanted to pop in and say hi to you ladies. It sounds like you all are progressing nicely. I think it''s great that you all will have your little ones within days of each other!
36.gif

Laila: Thanks for asking about me. Hopefully it won''t be too long before I can join you ladies here
2.gif
I wouldn''t worry to much about the non-symptoms, in fact I think there are a lot of girls who would prefer that about now, lol.

Lanie: It would drive me crazy too, not to know what I am having.

Lynnie: It sounds like the spotting is normal, so no worries! I
30.gif
your idea for finding out the gender at the baby shower. How cute!

Icekid: Sorry about the wretched M/S. Just hang in there and you will be to the 2nd tri soon! Good luck!

SS: Sorry about your icky flu, but I''m glad its all better. That''s sweet about the granpa bibs but boo on MIL. It sounds like your mom will more than make up for it though
3.gif

Good luck ladies and many wishes for a H&H 7-8 months!

35.gif
hi. I just posted on the TTC thread. like I said there, I''m not going to post too much about this pregnancy. just know that I am really elated and we are making the most of it because I felt I missed out the 1st time around. I decided if it lasts 9 weeks or 9 months, I am just going to enjoy every minute of being a mother, however long that is. DH came up with a pretty girl''s name and we are already calling the baby that. we hope she stays around for the full 9 months, and if she turns out a boy we are 100% ok with that, too. we''ll just have to think of another name.
2.gif

good luck to you other, ladies.

today I am 6 weeks and 1 day. I think that''s exactly the same as Lanie! but of course depending on future u/s, the due date will probably change.

Noel, congrats my dear! I''m so happy for you and I wish you a H&H 9 months.

Congrats, Noel! I heard you found out on vacation - how great! Keep us posted as often as you see fit! Good luck!

Super fast post bc I''m on my iPhone but just got back from my RE and we heard the heartbeat! It was nice and strong and we saw the flicker on the ultrasound!!! I''m very relieved but still nervous. We go back in 2 weeks and then he will release me to my regular OBGYN. They even gave us 3 little pictures of him/her! I''m feeling more and more nauseated, especially in the evenings and it continues even after I eat. Still super sore mamms. Hahaha!

Noelwr -- glad you are back!!! And yes, I''m 6w2d today! I guess we would be the same since we were the same cd. Are you calculating due date by ovulation or lmp? I forgot to ask my doc! I''m just saying dec 22.

Lynnie -- how are you feeling! Don''t worry too much about lack of betas. I read a lot of docs don''t put much weight into that data. Hope you are feeling okay!

Laila--how are you doing? Almost 8 weeks!!! Are you still going to your RE?

Split shank--sorry about being sick all the time. Ugh...that would suck. How far along are you?

Icekid--sorry you are sick as well. Mine isn''t bad "yet" so we will see. How far are you? Sorry if you guys already posted where you are but it''s hard to look this back up on my phone without screwing up my post!

Lanie, wonderful news about hearing and seeing the LO's heartbeat!! You are so lucky that you got to hear it too. I've just gotten to see the flicker. I wonder why my RE doesn't let us hear it? I'm still seeing him for one more week, and then I 'graduate' to the OBGYN. Anyway, you must be so relieved and happy!

It's so awful that I'm only 7w4d and none of my regular pants fit! I had to go buy some stretchy elastic waist pants. I have so much hunger all the time that I'm eating everything in sight.
32.gif

noelwr -- correction...I meant to say 6w1d on my post yesterday. Duh. NOW we're both 6w2d. Yay!

Laila -- I know!!! I couldn't believe we could hear it either! We saw the little flicker, and then he said "Let's see if we can hear it if I turn up the volume" and sure enough, we could hear it! It would come and go as he moved or I moved. It was very hard to hear it for more than about 5 seconds, but it was unmistakeable!!!
30.gif
30.gif
30.gif
My DH is getting way more excited now that it's tangible!!! We are telling my family a week from today. I'm chomping at the bit!!!! They are going to FLIP OUT!!!! That's so cute about your pants not fitting! You are on your way! It's a funny thing bc no one wants to gain weight except for this reason alone. Isn't it amazing how your body is already adjusting so early on?!? Have you looked at the belly bands? My friends all used those when they couldn't button up their pants. You might be a while from using them, but I know I'll be getting some soon.

Lanie - that''s so beautiful that you were able to hear and see the heartbeat. that is my goal this time around as unfortunately it didn''t happen last time. I''m calculating by LMP.

I have also gained weight but it''s because of my 4-week vacation, eating way too much of the not-so-healthy stuff and doing no exercise. will get back to exercising this weekend but slowing down to every other day instead of every day like before. and also back to healthy eating and smaller portions.
