Hiya Girls !!!!!

You may or may not remember my post a couple of months ago on this board about my dress.

I ordered a Justina MCCaffrey dress and posted pictures as I was having second thoughts not only about the dress, but the price itself.

The dress was a gift to me from my FI and words cannot express how much his genorosity meant to me...

HOWEVA....
20.gif

Me, being eternally FRUGAL was not comfortable with the cost of the gown... sooooo since the deposit, basically 50 % of the gown has been paid for, and production stopped on my dress, one of my options is to transfer the deposit to another one of her gowns that is a little less expensive and that falls into the price range I am comfortable in...

Problem is, I tend to get into a hypnotic trance when it comes to her gowns, get totally fixated by her silk, and basically LOOSE all my senses...

For you JM brides or brides to be, please post your JM dresses !!!!

I would love to see them on REAL people...

The "ballet" girls are A) WAAAYYYY thinner than me...

And B) in tsuch weird postions it is really hard to actually SEE the dress !!!!

Thanks in advance....

Example of why I completly looose my mind around her designs...

How BEAUTFIL is this ??!!!!!

I''m not a Justina bride - but I almost was!! I just wanted to let you know that I understand your love - there is something about her dresses that is really special.

I just went and looked at the pics of you in that dress - incredible! You look absolutely stunning!! So what isthe problem? Is it just the price and you had them stop production, or did JM stop making your dress and you have to choose another one?

I love it though!

It reminds me of the one I loved - mine was strapless with the super low back like you are having made...

Hi Octoberbride !!!!

Thank you for the compliments !!! I do LOVE my dress and the only problem was the price...

With taxes, the grand total was 5800.... EEEEEK !!!!
32.gif

I just can''t spend THAT much.. or allow my FI too.... I have been stressing about it waayyy too much !!!!

I stopped production on the one you saw.. well, it is on "hold"... they can start again at any time and ensure it will be ready for whenever I need it... Again, i only stopped it because of the pirce...

There are so many of her gowns I love... I am sure I can find one I love that is more within an acceptable price range....

The only thing I didn''t love about mine was the V-neck.... the top from the waist up seemed "bulky: to me...

I loved the low back.. loved the detail in the back.. loved the train.. just osmething is "off" with the front...

Which JM dress did you love ??? Do you remember the style name ???

Her gowns are incredible !

The Verona II. I still love it when I see pictures. And as much as I love your dress, I think this one would also look beautiful on you!!

and the back!

OH.MAH.FREAKIN.GAWD..... I love that dress !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
30.gif

I was THIS CLOSE to trying it on, but didn''t.. the sample was *really* dirty, in horrid condition, I had to PEE.... and well, I thought I''d found THE ONE.....

I have looked at that dress SOOOOO many times on her site and have the picture saved on my desktop...

Obviously, you have had this dress on... how did it feel ????

The "butt" looks sung to me.. maybe it''s just the pic...

THANK YOU SO MUCH OCTOBER BRIDE for posting these pictures !!!!!!!

And thank you for saying this dress would look nice on me.. that''s very sweet...

Now, I HAVE TO GO TRY THIS DRESS ON !!!!

DO you remember the price ???~~~~

36.gif

I could talk to you ALL DAY about her dresses !!!!

Hey, are you in Canada ???????

I can't remember the price - but defintely more reasonable than I expected - i.e. 3400 cdn? [ETA: I just called my mom to see if she remembered, and she seems to think it was in the 2500 range] It may have included alterations too but I don't recall.

I loved it. My only possible issue is that I am relatively well endowed, and I was unsure about what they could do as far as a sewn-in bustier or whatever to hold em up - they said they do it all the time etc so I was pretty confident about that.

It is an amazing dress. Only reason I didn't go for it is because I tried on a beaded reem acra and I fell in love! I always thought I'd go with a "simple" dress with a great feature (like the low back) and instead I went with something sparkly!!

However once in a while I think about JM and what could have been. I think either way I would have been happy - but since I had dreamt of the Reem Acra ever since seeing Ginger's pics on here - I felt like it was meant to be!!

Back to JM. If you are on the fence with your dress and what you don't like is the price and the front, I'd definitely try on the Verona II. I think it gives you what you are looking for.

The back wasn't tight at all - I have a very flat bum and it gave me some nice curves I thought.

Can't wait to see what you end up with! Either way you will be gorgeous!

Oh and about the one you have half bought - I think once it actually fits you, it will look even better. The front seems like it is too big or something, so keep that in mind. It will only get better!

Oct Bride, I was so hoping you were still online !!!

I called the JM boutique and am going on Saturday.. they are having a Trunk Show this weekend, all of the JM dresses will be there, and I will also get an additional 10% off..

Considering we have already put 2700.00 towards the dress, I doubt I will end up with much of a remaining balance !!!!

It is $3120 in the raw silk and apparently, this is the best material for this style as it "drapes and flows" as it should... the picture you posted is of the raw silk... *soo pretty*

I am relatively well endowed too.. a 36 C/D and found that with the built in bustier I wasn''t uncomfortable at all in any of her strapless gowns, so let''s hope this one works as well..

I am trying on a few more that they suggested... they know me soo well there... :)

I do love the dress I intially ordered but in order to be ABSOLUTELY 100% positive and comfortable with the price, I need to do this. My FI is soooo understanding... I am very lucky to have him..

I too always thought I would go with a simple dress with a great feature, like the low back as well, and your dress, the ADORED is my all-time favorite !!!!!

That''s too funny !!! We obviously have similar tastes !!!! I have never had the Reem on, thnakfully there isn''t anywhere around where I live that carries Reem''s or it could have been disasterous !!!

THank you so much for all your advice Oct Bride !!!! I have loved chatting with you and will definately let you know how everything goes on Saturday !!!

I''ll try to snap some pics as well !!!!

*excited*

You are so sweet!! I''m glad you booked an appointment - sometimes just knowing what you don''t want makes you more comfortable with what you do! I for one went WAY over budget to get the Reem...however I just knew. It had to be the dress!! So I''m all for spending a bit more (if at all possible, without going into debt, of course) to get your dream dress.

I''ve always thought that I''d rather spend $1000 on what I LOVE, than waste $500 on something that is just okay. Granted, I''d be broke if I always thought that way, but it just seems silly to drop what is still a lot of money on something that isn''t just right.

Yes, I''m in Toronto (I forgot to answer that).

I can''t wait to hear how it goes on Saturday - make sure you come back and tell me everything!!!

Put on your best knickers, do your hair up a little, and put on a dab of makeup before you go. I find that it is hard to visualize what you want to wear down the aisle when you have bed-head! :-)

Anyways, even if what comes from the day is that you LOVE the one you already picked, then so be it! At least then you won''t stress as much!!

Have fun!!!!

I couldn''t agree more !!!! I think just going and trying on the VERONA II and other gowns will certainly take away alot if not all of the stress I am experiencing.

My FI is soo understanding and supportive so that certainly helps.

I just want ot be 100 % insanely in love with my dress... and be comfortable with the price.. WALKING into her store was "out of my budget"....
20.gif

And *maybe* I will go ,try on EVERY dress in the store and at the end of the day , love the dress I ordered as much as you love yours... ultimately, that is what I am looking for... whether it be with the dress I ordered, the Verona II, or one that will completly catch me off guard !!!!

I will DEFINITLY be posting to tell you absolutely everything... the girl I am booked with is AMAZING and I am sure she will let me sneak a few pics.....
31.gif

Which of course, I will post !!!!!!

I am so excited!!!!!

Your advice to "put on my best knickers" TOTALLY killed me.. I swear my co-workers down the hall heard me laugh at that !!!!

Adorable !!!

Thank you so much OCT bride... you are such a sweetheart !!!!!

I could just drive to TO and hug you !!!

35.gif

BECG, I can''t wait to see your wedding photos! You are so excited and I think you will really enjoy your wedding day! Good luck with the dress! I think you''re doing the right thing to be a little more conservative on the price. You only wear the dress for a few hours. I don''t mind seeing people go over on the ring because it will be worn everyday forever (hopefully!).

That verona dress is BEAUTIFUL!! I''m in love-the back of it is to die for. Enjoy trying on the dresses!

I''m not a JM dress bride, but my veil is Justina!

I also love her designs, and I seem to recall she has lots in the lower price range, so I''m sure you''ll find something you love and feel comfy with. I totally get you on the ''want it, can technically afford it, can''t possibly conscience'' with wedding dresses.

Hi BECG!!!

I wore a Justina McCaffrey gown for my 9/28/07 wedding. I love her designs so much!!! Here is a link to my thread with some of my wedding pro pics in it...There are some great shots of my dress in here:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/a-few-of-danis-pro-pics.72455/

I wore the "Alexia II." I think it was in the $3800 range, and I bought it in November of '06 at Kleinfeld in NYC. It is just the most beautiful gown ever. Classically elegant. I received SOOO many compliments on it.

I'm so sad I only got to wear it for one day though! I truly love it so much....

Let me know if you have any other questions!!!

Okie BECG!!! It is SUNDAY now - this thread has NOT been bumped with either PICTURES or a DESCRIPTION of your expedition on Saturday!
31.gif

So come on girl...SPILL IT! I''m dying to know how it went!!!

*runs into message*

I''M HERE !!!!! I''M HERE !!!!!

I am sooo sorry I haven''t posted until now.. this is my FIRST chance to even post.. the weekend has been soo busy....
32.gif

Girls, I had the most AMAZING time at Justina McCaffrey''s on Saturday.... I was there for almost 3 hours and found...

MY DRESS !!!!!!!!!

36.gif

I''m such a doorknob, I brought the camera and totally forgot to take pics of me in it.. I KNOW, I KNOW, the worst mistake ever, but it was insanely busy...

Trunk shows are INSANE !!!!

Anyhooooooo, after trying on 2938529890258,95892895 dresses, I ended up going with the one that as soon as I walked out in and saw myself I just wanted to dance in, run down the street SQUEALING, mow the lawn in, watch Dr.Phil in, cook a raost, make love in....

I mean, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this dress !!!!!!!!!

30.gif
30.gif
30.gif
30.gif

Seriously....

LOVE this dress....

They only showed me dresses within my price range, which was great, so I wouldn''t go through the whole "really like it, but can''t afford it" road again...

Okay, I don''t have pics of ME in the dress, but THIS is MY DRESS.... FINALLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot WAIT to wear it again....
20.gif

Oh, and the VERONA II, which I LOOOOVE would not even go over my hips..... In fact, I tried on a dress with the same cut and looked TERRIBLE !!!

Okay, going to try and post my pics again !!!!

OMG..... it won''t let me post my freakin'' pics... GRRR !!!!

Be patient.. gonna take some time....

29.gif

OMG!!! It is stunning!!!!! Absolutely beautiful!!! I''m so excited for you! Was it a better experience? Any pics of you in the dress?

Do you feel so much better about your decision?!!!!

Awwwww, THANK YOU !!!! I love it sooo much !!!!!

My experience was AMAZING .... we drank champagne in the store and the girls were incredible... I felt like a princess, and for me, not really "girly" at all, I was LOVIN'' every minute of it !!!!

The representive from JM and I have had intensive conversations both dress related and personal so I basically felt like I knew her already... Jasmine, the other sales associate has been there with me from the very beginnning..It was like being there with two close friends.

I went alone because I didn''t want to second guess myself or be swayed by anyone else''s thoughts or opinions. I totally followed my heart and am sooo glad I did..

I certainly did not expect STRAPLESS.... nor did I expect POOF, but the back of this dress is like a cascading waterfall of SILK and I LOVe it... the way it flows and falls is mesmerizing...

Seriously, just taking about it, my stomach has major butterflies and I want to go put it on NOW !!!!

The price was bang on, I was totally comfortable with it...

The remaining balance is more within my budget.... I literally saved over 2k and when I saw my first dress, I had no feeling for it whatsoever... NONE.... in fact, I didn''t like it at all..

It was the weirdest thing....

As soon as I walked into the salon one of the girls was putting my dresson the rack and I asked her what one it was... she said the style name, I checked my "dress list", sure enough it was there, and it was the first one I tried on... I kept going back to it.... love at first sight I guess...

It''s funny Oct2008bride, I was reading your thread about your dress... which looks so beautiful on you... really, it is stunning ... and I smiled because I too considered "cross-border" shopping and called different salons that carried Melissa Sweet and JM as well... the price difference was insane...

There was a dress in JM I loved, but it was 5k... I *almost* started calling abroad to find a better deal, but really didn''t want to go down this road AGAIN...

You and I have had such a similar experience with the DRESS QUEST !!!!!

I didn''t take any pics, but now wish I had of...... sooooo, I am going to go back within the next couple of weeks and take pictures... I just have to.. I can''t stop looking at this dress !!!!!

And I would like to share them with you girls as well !!!!!

*sigh*

I want to get married TODAY !!!!

I think your dress is GORGEOUS, BECG!!! Great choice!!! You are going to look stunning, and I cant wait to see pics!!!
36.gif

OH I do SO love PS. BrownEyedCountryGirl, I LOVE the dress you picked. Love it. Love it. I have been obsessing over the Verona 2 and wanted to see the back of it. I''m considering the dress, but EEP! if the price tag makes me a little scared. BUt something about her dresses look so fluid and beautiful. I might be making a trip there too to try on the verona.

Gorgeous dress, it would be fun to see some pics of you in it! Congrats on the purchase!

BECG - did you take any pics of you in the dress? Drinking the champagne? ;-)

I''m so happy for you!!

And as far as the cross border shopping goes, don''t worry about it. It is definitely more work (i.e. fittings etc) and honestly, if I had found my Reem in Canada, I''m not sure if I would have made the trek.

Stupid question - you are in Canada? I had no idea?! Where are you?

OMG.. I wish I had thought of that !!!!!

A picture of me drinking Champagne IN MY DRESS !!!!

DAMN !!!!

Ah well, there is always next time....
31.gif

Now I just have ANOTHER excuse to go visit her...

Cross-border was appealing but the hassle to me wasn''t worth it... well, unless I found the dress I absolutely could nto live without at an expectional price.... *MAYBE*....

I wouldn''t know where to start for a Reem in Canada... I''m so glad you found yours though... I luuurve it !!!

I''m about an hour out of Ottawa, in a small town... A VERY SMALL TOWN.. seriously, there are more cows than people !!!!!

I grew up there and eventually came back... Country girl at heart...
20.gif

I love the city though, always have... totally fell in love with New York !!!!!!!!

I love that your Canadian and CLOSE !!!

There isn''t that many of us Canadian girls here....

Okay, NOW I definately have to go back and get pictures of me in my dress !!!!!!!!!!

It''s a must....

I''ll bring the champagne, my red heels AND *maybe* even throw on my bestest bling !!!!!

Sounds amazing - can''t wait to see your bling''d out, bubbly sipping, bridal gown wearing pictures!!

My best friend is from Ottawa - I remember always going past the JM store with total envy - you are lucky to live close by!

I''m so happy you found THE dress - nothing better than finding one that makes you want to cry AND it is in your budget! Perfection!!
