I''m just curious, did you ever set your fantastic red EC tourmaline that you posted, I believe in March???

No I haven''t. Thanks for asking though. I haven''t had ANYTHING set except a tsavorite and that was years ago. The trouble is my finances keep getting sidetracked by all the stones posted here.

Now I''m about to threadjack

and I know I keep doing it but it''s my sanguine mind which wanders uncontrolled here and there. But in this cases I think it''ll be OK?

I recently bought a loupe and I took a look at the tsavorite which I do have set, and I was horrified when I saw the little chips which were not there when I bought the ring, about 5 years ago. After seeing that I began to think that maybe I would just collect stones and not set them at all.

Last month, in India, I bought this Ganesh pendant. Ganesh symbolizes prosperity and health and I''ve always liked this elephant image. The tiny diamonds are really sparkly and and as you can see in the side view it has a loop on which you can attach something.

I think adding the stone would look very cool! The stone is a beautiful color and the pendant is lovely and unique.

Each piece is so lovely by itself and a knock out together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing pendant. It has a lot of great detail. I think attaching the stone would look great.

I know exactly what you mean by sidetracked, I have the same problem. But I think I enjoy this problem alot because I keep doing it over and over again! LOL!!

Now that Gnesh pendant is facinating. I have never heard of that before. Very ornate and nicely crafted and the blue tourmaline looks very nice with it. The shape of the toumaline also compliments the pendant. Win/Win all the way!

ETA: That's a shame about the chips on your tsavorite!

Did you get the single eye loupe? I have one of those but I can only use it for a minute or so or I get a awful headache. I'm wondering if anyone as bought the one that looks like bulky sunglasses that goes over both eyes?

What a beautiful pendant! The tourmaline will just add to it''s beauty!!!!

Awesome: I think it’s unique and interesting. Are you tired of my telling you how much I love that glowy Afghan tourmaline yet?

I''ve added this pic to show how the small diamonds actually do sparkle and make a great frame to the Ganesh.
Thanks for your comments ladies - I actually didn''t think this would appeal to many; I''m open to all opinions. Haagen Das'' thread asking which way should a trillion be set is really interesting. In this case what do you think, trillion point up or down and should the tourmaline be surrounded by tiny diamonds like the Ganesh?

Chrono - I''ll never tire of hearing that.

Mochi - I have a single lens loupe and I don''t get a headache using it but I only use it for very short periods of time. I agree with you - sidetracked is great fun.

Awesome ganesh pendant, and the tourmaline is beautiful. Thanks for the additional pictures and the information about the ganesh pendant.

Dang! I think I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that Tourmaline! it is gorgeous!!!! I love the glowy color? What country is that from!

I''m +1 for adding the tourmaline. I think it will make a unique piece even more special.

Thanks Sarahbear, it''s an Afghan tourmaline from John Dyer.
And thanks too TL, I really appreciate your comments.
I intend to go ahead with this but I really do want to know how it would best be set?

I think it would look best point down, to compliment the leaves.

I think I like the point upward.

The tourmaline is gorgeous! I would set it point up.

Can you post a quick collage of two pictures: one with the tip up and one with the point down? It would certainly help me to give my opinion.

Gorgeous pendant and stone, by the way!

Very cool pendant. And an awsome stone! I too would like to see a photo of each option side by side. Easier to pick that way! TFS!!

WOW....awesome project....I can''t wait to see the finished pendant!!!!

Lori

I will post the options side by side in the next day or two. Thanks everyone
