Hello everyone,

I have a Steven Kretchmer Omega ring that needs to be resized or remade. I know resizing is not always possible. Does anyone have any idea what it would cost to remake this ring. I spoke to the local Kretchmer dealer and he would not give me a number, he only said it needs to be sent to Kretchmer to get an estimate. He said it should be significantly less then purchasing a new setting, which I hope is true.

I was also wondering if an experienced jeweler could place a bridge on the ring (making it a faux tension set) and resize from there.

Any information anyone has would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Adrian

Well for the money you shelled out initially for this setting, the unqueness of the design and reputation for quality is what you paid for..Why risk messing up a great design by putting a faux bridge in it which is not what makes the tension mounting unique.

Personally I would send the ring back and get a proper estimate on what it would cost to resize your ring...

For the money you spent originally and the craftsmanship of the original ring I would not go with anything less than getting a proper estimate done and having the ring resized by the company..The designs are georgeous..

Good Luck..

Thanks Josh...I actually purchased this ring used (at a very good price) and it is a little too big for my fiance's finger. That being said, I tend to agree with you. I love the Kretchmer setting and would hate to mess with it. I just want to see what my options are if Kretchmer wants to charge me a couple of thousand (or more) dollars to remake the ring.

Thanks again,

Adrian

Hey Adrian..No Problem....

Keep us updated, but I don't imagine a resizing of course based on how in depth the process is would cost you this much...These rings retail in the range of 2-3000..Some are more but give them a ring....

I would also check out some of the tension like designs at www.ringdesigner.com

They have a couple platinum designs with the tension look with the bridge underneath the stone which yu mentioned in your 1st post..
