I received my LOGR setting today...and for the price, It really is pretty decent. I am still weighing in on a couple of things... The diamonds appear to be more like SI2-I1 rather than SI1....but Meh--they still have a little sparkle. I can''t complain too much for $240! The Kunzite fits perfectly, however, I am wondering if I should go for a darker gemstone?? Lots of pics...

Two worries here.

#1, Kunzite can cleave pretty easily, so you''ll have to be really careful with a ring!

#2, I don''t know if it''s just the way you''ve got it in there or what, but the stone looks like it''s too deep for that setting...I might be wrong, but you might have to get the prongs built up or something.

But that stone is GORGEOUS!!!

That is a good point about the prongs being built up. I am keeping my fingers crossed that setting the stone will not be a "costly" adventure. Defeats the purpose....

Yeah...before you decide to keep it or not I would bring it to your jeweler to ask if it can be done. Whenever I''ve seen settings with stones in them before they are set the prongs are always sitting up quite a bit higher than the stone.

I have a number of Kunzite rings and wear them (although only at night!!!!!). It looks absolutely stunning in the setting and I really love the two rings together. My only hesitation is that it does look a little too deep for the setting as somebody has already mentioned - that would mean that the table edges are going to potentially be exposed more even if you extend the prongs. Perhaps your local jeweller can advise?

I think it looks gorgeous!!! By the way, he''s now charging $50 more to upgrade diamonds. The price recently went from 199 to 249 per carat to upgrade to VS (or supposedly VS) diamonds on his listings. I have a feeling many people are upgrading them, so he''s going to make a little more on that. He didn''t charge more for the upgrade for 18K though. Still a great price. I love that setting, I think I might get it for my tourmaline. Thanks for the pictures, post more!!

How deep is your stone, and the caratage? Just curious since I wonder if that would fit my tourmaline.

The setting is unique and very pretty!

I am racking my brain as to what to do.......... The diamonds not being upgraded really does not bug me, it is the fact that the prongs could stand to be longer. My stone is 9mm deep. I was told by a jeweler that people can get great prices on a gemstone especially in the carribean....but if the stone is cut too deep, you would be hard pressed to find a setting made for the depth of the stone. In essence, they would have to go the custom made route. I have a good feeling that my jeweler will a) not be willing to set the stone for various reasons or b) see $ signs and charge me oodles of $ to set the stone and build the prongs up...amongst anything else he may feel needs to be done........... I am all for making $$.... but I really don''t want to spend alot to have a few things done. I think I will email LOGR and see if they can advise concerning the prongs.......and possibly upgrading the diamonds.........

TL... if you get that setting, I really hope your tourmaline works out. It is a really cool setting for the price!!

Is it possible you can show a picture of it without the stone (the inside of the basket). Thanks!!!! It is a really beautiful and feminine setting, and it looks substantial in the gold work. I think the delicate pinkness of the stone matches the femininity of it. What is the carat weight of the kunzite if you don''t mind me asking?

I don''t know anything about fitting stones into settings, but the color is gorgeous!

I don''t know anything about depth/prongs, etc. but if it works, that stone is going to look gorgeous in that setting - it has a beautiful, antique feel to it, without looking dated at all. Lovely!

I was thinking the color of the stone was very feminine and appropriate to the setting. It gives it a bit of a romantic, decoey, victorian feeling. The stone is over 5carats. I would usually not wear such a large/chunky stone...but I do think it is a nice enough stone that it should be mounted. I am very careful with my jewelry. I don''t wear certain pieces when I am working or doing errands, etc. This ring will be reserved for "date night" with the DH. TL... I will get a few pics of the setting without the stone later today. Time to go to my Zumba class....

and guess what? I took it to a jeweler and he said he is going to make it work. He really didn''t think it would be a problem. The prongs didn''t even need gold added to them. He has been a benchman for over 30 years...so I feel like I am in good hands. He owns his own business.... and works alone ...so I know that he is doing the work. I won''t have it back until the 20th of November, but that is o.k. He is only charging me $30 to make some "seats" in the prongs, open up the setting a little bit and set the stone! WOOHOO!

.... I still have not heard back from LOGR though.... ??
