LA / Southern Cali GTG?

Had my first face-to- face with another Ps''er last week and so much fun to finally meet! I do not know how two people could talk about diamonds non-stop... but i think we did! Cheers to you Harriet!

I know there have been recent GTG around the SM gem show... but wondering if Los Angeles folks want to have a holiday or 2008 PS GTG soon! With the holidays coming I prefer to call it a PS PARTY.

I know a bunch of you have met... but let me know if something might work for people soon.

Sending a Shout Out to OC and San Diego''ers as well... but do not know how far folks want to drive.

Orange County, perhaps South Coast Plaza, would be a good mid-point to meet for PSers from LA to SD.

I am SO there Green! I''m home, my car is gassed up and ready to hit the road! I''d actually be happy to drive up to LA but can I request that perhaps we consider a "PS Holiday Crawl"

around the LA diamond district? There are SO many places to pop into there and it''s like being in a candy store...I''d make the drive up there for that...I know every store in South Coast after shopping for erings and wbands this year so it''s not as attractive to me...Sorry Kim!

I agree--- something nice about lack of face. maybe ok for others... but on world wide web I like faceless concept.

So come along and we all swear no face shots. Pinky swear! I do not like posing for pictures anyway.

OR.. you could wear a mask! It is so frickin'' cold in LA... I would not mind a ski mask myself!

LOL! Ditto. I did NOT want to drag myself out of bed today. Thank goodness for the writer''s strike, so musey doesn''t have to freeze her ''tocks off by stepping foot outside!

I'm not a big fan of facetime here either....in fact, SO MUCH do I value my privacy that I've never even done a thread in who's who! Yet every get together I've done has been very respectful of privacy concerns, and no one has ever posted a picture if anyone's been uncomfortable.

Most only post pictures of the BLING anyway - dedicating pixels to anything else is unimportant anyway! LOL

I really hope you don't let it stop you from joining in. I've met some of THE MOST wonderful people through PS, and it's a joy to count them among my friends.

musey, i agree with alj. i''ve gone to a few GTG''s and become friends with some of the fabulous bay area ladies and see them every few months....and some of them don''t want photos on the internet. so i have some great photos of us all (and our bling) but i don''t post them. so i would imagine you wouldn''t have to worry if you just ask to not be posted in any online photos. but i also know what you mean about liking to be incognito at times too.

GTG''s are fun! I''d had a blast at past ones- PSers are sooo cool. I''d be interested in a Holiday S.Cal GTG.

Selkie coordinated one a couple of months ago, but I wasn''t able to attend. Hopefully she''ll chime in here soon with her input!

We did have a GTG at South Coast last summer (''06). It seemed to be a good meeting point for LA & SD folks. The group first "did" lunch, and then browsed some of the jewelry shops there (i unfortunately had to leave after lunch and missed the bling).

Anyway, I''d be game for anywhere! South Coast or the L.A Diamond District.

Charger, I''ve been wanting to meet a homegirl from down here...I''m still leaning towards LA diamond district simply because I''ve been there/done that scene at South Coast so many times...To me, there''s way more options to oogle in LA...and I remember going to the diamond district last spring and only getting to about two shops in one of those huge buildings and I always regretted not getting to the bazillion other shops!

Well, I''d totally be up for another one, but I''ll be in Massachusetts over the holidays. In fact, we''re coordinating a GTG there on 12/29! If we have one in January or February, I''d be interested in the LA jewelry district (I''m too intimidated to go there by myself

Hey Surf- I''m actually in L.A''s West Valley area (NW L.A county). I grew up here, but went to SDSU for college so SD will always be my second home.

Anyway... DH and I went wedding band shopping in the Diamond District last summer. It can be soooo overwhelming, but I''d be up for it with a group of PSers!

I vote LA jewelry dist. I want to visit single stone!!! Downtown is also super easy for me to get to. I''ll be out of town on and off quite a bit between Dec. 17 until Dec. 28th though., but please don''t plan around me. I''ve had so much fun at the previous get togethers!

I rue the day that all of us toddle into an unsuspecting shop with subpar stones...That person would probably be shamed into closing down after we all got done with them!

I''m for LA district and since I''ve only been to Single Stone once (and once is more definitely NOT enough!), I''d be thrilled to start off there to ensure we have max gawking time!

I am also willing to act as "Supreme Enabler" to anyone on the fence about anything they deem owner worthy...And since it''s the holiday season, I will waive my enabler''s fee and offer this service free to anyone in attendance...aren''t I magnanimous? I know...

There are a TON of worthy places to hit in the SS bldg...In fact, I spent so long in SS when I was there that all the other places were closed when we were leaving but their windows looks delicious. I think that one bldg. could keep us busy for the entire day.

As for timing, I''d love to do a holiday season meeting...anytime is fine for me during the holidays. Selkie and others who might be coming/going from the LA area, why dont you guys list the dates you''re available (preferably Sat''s since LA traffic is awful during the week and IIRC, most of that bldg. is open in Sat''s), and perhaps we can throw something together...sometime between now and the first week of Jan.?

haha! You''re right Musey! This IS sounding dangerous! I''d love to meet some PSers and I missed the Sept. GTG! I''m in South OC so while South Coast Plaza is closer I''d be happy to make the trip to LA as well. I was just in LA a few weeks ago with DH and he was only good for 1 store. Of course that one store was Single Stone and we were there for hours. I''m still thinking about what to get. I''m sure some of my PS friends would be happy to lead me in the right direction. Isn''t that right Green with Envy??????

The gem show in Feb. is another great idea!

I won't be able to make this GTG, my weekends are full from now through the new year; I hope you guys have a blast. The weekend of the gem show in Febraury is a lookin' wide open. We can talk turkey, or diamonds and meeting places, etc., as the date gets closer.

I''m away from 12/23 to 12/31, so could only make it on Jan. 5th. Would that be some kind of record, 2 PS GTG''s on opposite coasts in one week?

I''m also definitely planning to go to the Anaheim show since I''ll be picking up a ring I put on layaway at the last one.

It''s highly likely that Kt and I will both be hitting two GTGs within 24 hours!!!!!!!!!!

Yea!!! I am so glad people are interested in LA diamond district!!! I can do Dec 29... or Jan 5 even better... we will have to serach for Valentine's gifts in case we did not get the perfect holiday present!!!

Others chime in... but for me Dec 22 or 23 is crazy with last minute x-mas stuff.


Then I will also do the feb thing in Anaheim in case the oc and SD crew can not all make it to LA district.
