I found a lab/appraiser in my area who seems like they can do the job I need to help identify some loose "mystery" stones I have in my treasure chest. The only thing I know of to identify a stone is a refractometer. They have a lot more than that! lol http://www.negemlab.com/
I live about an hour away from New York City, I''m sure there are plenty of good lab/appraisers/what-have-you in the city but I''m sure they carry a New York City premium. This lab is about 30 minutes away. I also have Yale University and the Peabody Museum in my "backyard."
If that lab seems on the up and up to you guys and seems equipped enough to identify the stones and possibly some treatments, I''ll look no further, but if it isn''t, could you all tell me what I should look for in a lab/appraiser/what-have-you.
And since everyone (including me) loves pictures, here''s a little sphene I picked up.
