For the July to wed ladies and all you have been there done that, and.... those who are just more organized for your big event tell me what the last 2 months "to do''s" should be.

I feel like I am choking and forgetting some important things ... thing is, I don''t even know what those important things to do could be!

7/11/09 whoa!!

Well, I am at 8.5 weeks, and will be stuffing my invites tonight. I am NOT happy that I had to spend another $400 on extra invitations, especially when I found out that my calligranpher miscounted by 25!!!

Turns out I probably won't even need extras.

AND double checked with the PO today, and my invites are definitely going to be $1.05/ea. So what I wasted on extra envelopes could have been used on postage, but no, it can't, and now I will be spending another $250 on postage.

I am going to be so glad when this week is over and all of the invitations are gone.

After that, it is all about the programs, OOT baskets, the groomsmen's tuxes and ordering groomsmen's gifts, getting dresses for Bridemaid luncheon and RD, and getting my skin ready for wedding day

Did I mention I ready for this week to be over...

Ugh, I''m really ready to be done with wedding planning

I''m 7.5 weeks away. I''m sure there are things I''m forgetting that will be have to be done that last week before the wedding, but I have no idea what they could be either. I did start getting reply cards back this week though and that has been exciting.

meresal- that''s really disappointing about your invitations. I''m sorry you have to pay so much extra!!

We are date twins Patchee! woooohoooo

All i have left is

buy stuff for inside bathroom baskets

buy out of town bags and stuff for insides (that is IF we do OOT bags, we may not)

oh and i forgot, we need to print programs too.
they are designed - just need to be printed

Thanks musincy. It's alright though. Nothing I can do about it now, so just getting over it, and take it as a lesson learned.

So here's my exciting update!!
We just got $200pp knocked off of our honeymoon cruise!! It is not selling well, (YAY for an empty ship

!!), and I suspect it will probably go down again before the sailing!!

Thanks for letting me share

Didn't make it to the PO in time last night, so no envelopes got stuffed or stamped. Hopefully going to get some done tonight, and then the rest tomorrow night with FMIL.

Mere, that sucks about your invites! How many are you sending out? Postage is so expensive! Mine were 61 cents and I thought they''d be more. Are you hand canceling? The lady at my post office in River Oaks told me they only hand cancel downtown. I said eff it, and I just sent them on their way. I don''t have the time!

Oh, what are all of you guys doing for programs??? I''ve been looking at The Knot for ideas, and I''ve saved all programs from weddings I''ve gone to since I started dating Robert, so that''s about 6 or 7 at least.

Well, I sent a "test" invitation at $0.61 cents.

That covers the weight but not the extra $0.44 for being square and over 5x5. We''ll see how closely they actually check. We are sending out between 175 and 200. I just spent $88 on stamps for the RSVP''s. lol. I''ve stopped keeping track of anything that costs less than $100,

.

I would like to hand cancel them. I''ll have to find out which PO is the one that allows it. The PO in the fed bldg is only about 3 blocks from my office but the main PO is about 12 blocks away, so I''ll give them a call, before hiking over there to ask a question.

For programs we are doing a booklet type thing that is tied with ribbon on the left hand side or the top. We haven''t decided yet. What are you leaning towards?

I had no idea square envelopes cost extra to send. You''d think I would know something like that!

Same type of thing (ribbon on left side). I need to order the paper for the programs soon bc I had paper problems before and I don''t want to be ripping my hair out a week before the wedding getting these together. Some I''ve collected have pretty velum on the top cover so might do something like that.

Yup, anything square that is bigger than 5x5 is charged as a large envelope (legal sized!!).

Well, my "test" invite came to me in the mail today. Exciting right!? Not so much. I noticed that they didn''t even cancel the stamps. It seems as though I need to send it across the state or further, to see if it will actaully get stopped and returned.

What a PITA. I think I''m just going to go with $1.05 anyway. I''m tired of all this uncertainty.

Hmm, I think invitations might not be something you want to take a risk on. I''ve heard that invitations don''t always get to their recipients anyway, with the correct postage, so I would probably do everything I could on my end to try to get them there.

$1.05 per invitation though... ugh!!

LOL Ladies I am taking my thread back

But Mer - I am sorry for your recent invitation misfourtune!

)
Tents, chairs/tables, centerpeices etc. DONE

I purchased all flowers last night
Caterer will be called at the beginning of July with head count.
DJ has been out to my place to check out the area etc.
My photographer is an aquintance of mine and we have been on outs so I am scared my pics may fall through - not cool.

Princesscut - have you gotten all your invite responses back yet? I have not... missing a few still.

Patchee, FWIW, I answered your OP in my first reply, you never came back.

I also forgot to add, that we are putting together "Kid's Bags" for the reception. You know, just a few 8 oz. beers and a cigar or two

Glad to hear your things are moving forward! Wow, 6 weeks! How exciting
