@Rfisher I stumbled upon a round stone in round faux bezel that I thought I’d shared if you are still hunting for visuals.

I’m not seeing any round faux bezel with prongs that looks quite like Imagined, possibly there is no such thing.

Have also been thinking about all the white metal dwarfing the blue. The CAD from last ring will not be used, as CVB made to be purposely exaggerated and almost cartoonish for the hand fab guy to riff from as inspo. And unfortunately as it was not foreseen, he did that aspect pretty spot on. So hopefully that will also address the sapphire not getting lost?

I know you aren't going in this direction anymore but I saw this bezel plus flowery frame and thought of you. I adore it, but even on sale I can't exactly justify it (but it is my size)

Sapphire is 7mm x 5.2mm and .54 diamonds

Even entertained an octagon, but don’t think this small of a center stone can pull off that many prongs.
Still trying to find a round version of this bezel style!

Tweaked CADs - yay!
Went with the octagon with tiny prongs and nixed the YG against the sapphire option. Petal metal should finish out a bit thinner than shown.

I’ll also be listing two of these stones on LT at a later date. I don’t need any more projects!

They have already been unmounted, each are about 20pts and are somewhere in between 3.5-3.7mm, bruted girdles, and the vendor listed them as G/H VS but I’ll get more specific from CVB when I list.

I don't have much experience with CAD but will the tips of the petals be as sharp as they look? I like the more pronounced petal/leaf look that the point brings but I'd worry about snapping or poking something (probably myself)

The bezel /prongs is quite nice isn’t it?
Yeah on the points - I don’t believe they polish out that sharp.
I’m not worried about it poking or snagging.

Sorry I keep going back to that bezel, being an octagon fanatic I just freaking love it so much.

That would make sense, I am rubbish at translating CAD/image to done.

So 8 really tiny prongs? I really like the underside of that CAD. Do you have a profile shot? I am wondering how high above the diamonds the sapphire sits...

yes! Either 8 tiny claws or tiny ball prongs.
there is definitely some tilt here. I’m much looking forward to this aspect, as it’s much different than anything I’ve had before.

I know this thread is kinda long and convoluted. This ring has been talked about by me on other PS threads too.
I wanted to say it again in case anyone missed it. I did not go with DK on this project because he couldn’t fit my OEC stones around my sapphire without a micro halo between the sapphire and the petals. I did not want that look, to go in that direction. The CADs from DK also depicted a pretty different petal shape and construction from the antique inspiration ring he and I discussed.
I love working with DK. I just didn’t feel we had the same vision on this project.

No CAD deposits with DK, that I know of. I gave him inspo pic of an antique ring from his Instagram. The two CADs he gave me were not based on that antique ring, but a (more modern?) version he did for two other PS’ers. A different look altogether.
I didn’t get the ‘feel’ that it was going in the right direction at all, especially with the requirement of the micro halo. Pretty, but let him know it’s not the look I was after.
He didn’t ask for payment.
If I would have started directing multiple CAD changes and made what I wanted to happen -like I’ve done with my other DK projects-
and after all that at that point had I changed direction - I would have offered to pay for CAD fees.
