Holy Moly ....
this couple of 21 year olds really has fancy taste, no? And a bottomless pocketbook & no commitment to marry apparently.

Excerpt:

Dean Kuehnen Jr. is suing his ex-fiance, Andria Castellano, to compel her to either return the ring or give him cash -- as well as cover his legal fees and costs, according to the complaint filed in New York State Court.

Castellano has threatened to sell or destroy the 3.23-carat ring, even though the couple agreed the ring would be returned to Kuehnen if their engagement was ever broken off, the complaint says.

Both were 21 years old when they became engaged in December last year, but by September this year the wedding was off.

wow! At 21 I barely had enough money for a couple of pints in the pub after college

Sounds like they were DEFINITELY mature enough to get married. They give the rest of us youngly-engaged a great name.

Ha. Well, while I think youngly engaged folks might be SLIGHTLY more inclined to be immature, it''s not the deciding factor by any stretch. All I have to do is look around a group of 30 somethings to shoot that theory out of the water.

Awwww TG ... you KNOW maturity is a bell curve ... look at all those doddering oldsters pelting each other with creamed corn & having "rainbow parties" in the Craft Room closet.

I think maturity peaks at, um, 40 ... that''s it ... 40. And next year it will be 41.

OOOOOOHHHHHHHhhhhhh

Juicy new details involving the MOB!

(And revised ages ... the ex-Groom-To-Be is in his thirties! ... and revised appraisal amount on the ring ... and it's an EMERALD CUT)

ETA: Or according to other reports it's a SQUARE EMERALD CUT (asscher) in a pave diamond setting. YUMMO!

"Kuehnen, 32, popped the question to Castellano, 24, two days before Christmas last year at the Jersey Shore, giving her a platinum ring topped off by a square emerald-cut diamond and 160 tiny round diamonds in a pave setting. Earlier, a Diamond District jeweler appraised it at $38,800.

He's trying to get all $38,800 back .. and we ALL know there's no way he paid the APPRAISED amount. The plot thickens!

Also, what kinda yicky 3.23 carat asscher in a platinum setting is selling for prolly 1/2 of $38,800 ... hmmm

I love how that article ended. This is a private FAMILY matter. Yeah, I think the article mentioned the family a couple of times.

What a weird story..but weirder still is that I was on the street the night the girl's grandfather got gunned down! My parents had an apt. in the city and I was on my way there after dinner with friends...I was heading east in midtown to Second Ave. (my parents lived mid-50's & 2nd Ave), and I was going to walk down that very street to cut over but the street was roped off and police vans were all over the place and one police van had its back doors open so I stopped and asked them what's going on? They smiled and said, "mob hit on the street by that steak house, go down a few blocks and then cut across..." So weird. I think the police were rather excited that an old style mob hit just went down in their city. Ahhh, the good ol days...

I did laugh when the article said the dude was trying to get the "appraised value" of the ring. Can you say SCAMMER?!!?

ETA: deco, when I read your last post and you said "MOB" I thought you meant "Mother of the Bride"!

Evidently, the former FI has not watched The Soprano''s. If he gets whacked, he should have known better...and if he''s the one who broke the engagement, he should be on the lam
