FI and I are going to visit his family in upstate NY for Christmas, and since we''re traveling halfway across the country to do it, we thought we would spend a day in NYC. We only have Friday night and Saturday morning because we have to catch a 2:45 train on Saturday. SO my fellow PSers...what should we do??

I have been to NYC during the holidays before, but never with FI. What are the can''t-miss things to do? We want to keep it affordable and low-key. No shows or fancy restaurants. Both of us have a very "been there, done that" feeling about NYC the 5 star way.

We definitely want a slice from a corner pizza place, cannolis, and Indian food from someplace with Christmas lights on the ceiling. I also thought we would do the 5th Ave stroll to look at the store windows and the Rockafeller tree. I know it''s going to be a total madhouse, but I also really want to go in FAO Schwartz.

Probably no time for museums or anything.

What ideas do you guys have?

If I was there for a day, I would walk around Central Park, get your slice of Pizza or whatever food you want, go up Top of the Rock in the evening and generally wander around taking in the atmosphere.

hmmmm....NYC? We were there a year ago...so here''s all the highlights we definitely hit. If you''re staying near 5th Avenue....you are in walking distance to lots of sights! MoMA (museum of modern art), Time Square at night, while it''s lit up with lights, the window displays on 5th Ave., Rockefeller Center, we had lunch at Serendipity (the place in the movie), visited Tiffany & Co. and of course try on rings! Have a great time!!

Oooh...how could I have missed two such obvious ones?

Central Park and Tiffanys!

Thanks for the ideas guys!
