In other news, my loud, irresponsible, crazy neighbor moved out. We're all unexpectedly a little disappointed and heartbroken. Did not realize how much we enjoyed silently keeping tabs on her antics from across the hall.

I went to lunch and shopping today and I lost my glasses. They were only 3 months old! What bothers me the most is that I can’t believe how absentminded I have become that a simple trip can result in such a careless loss!

I started buying glasses from zenni several years ago. I cannot be trusted to either hang onto a pair of rx glasses nor remember not to sit on them.

I am grumpyhappy? Happygrumpy? Happily grumpy? Work has begun on replacing kitchen cabinet doors and drawers which will then be painted and new hardware installed. The cats are howling/whining because they are locked up out of harm's way and they want to be causing havoc. Tonight will be, um, interesting as all the cabinets in will be doorless and they will be able to access the forbidden zones. Imma need comfort food and alcohol to self-soothe.

I am in a lot of pain and trying to stay positive. My back is acting up badly. Again. It took me five hours yesterday to get to where I could reliably walk from the living room to the bathroom with just pain rather than whole body crumpling, entire right side from hip down cramping/spasming, screaming, and nauseous. Today was a bit better at only three hours from waking up to just bad pain. I can't sit for long. I can't walk for long. Laying down is just as bad. It takes every bit of energy I have just to keep walking around, stretching, icing, and breathing. My days and nights go in an endless cycle of bad pain, excruciating pain, I'm going to puke now pains, and a few welcome stretches of just pain. I was finally making great progress on unpacking, getting the plants in the ground, and so much more. Now I haven't showered in something like four days and haven't slept more than four hours in a stretch since even longer. Called my physical therapist this morning. They had a cancellation for today, but it was about 10 minutes from when I called and almost an hour drive to get there. Scheduled for Friday morning and on the cancellation list. I don't know what else to do. The last two MRIs showed no issues and things healing. The surgeon's office sent me to a physio something who referred me to physical therapy. Anyway, I am tired and I hurt and I just am so over this all and afraid of things going back where they were as I waited for surgery before.

I had an e-mail sent to two of my Gmail addresses from someone I know, asking if I could help as he was unwell and in hospital.

It involved getting one of his younger female relative some voucher that he promised for her birthday, and he had tried online without success.

I smelt a rat as I know the owner of the e-mail address, so I started to ask questions and for additional verification by sending a text message to my phone.

The scammer said no access to phone as he was in hospital.

When I said I could get the voucher via Amazon, he quickly responded to say he needed 3 x 100 GBP vouchers, just buy them, obtain the codes and give the codes to him.

By this time, I knew he was a scammer, and rang the owner of the e-mail address, and his wife confirmed it was a scam.

So I reported the scam e-mails and told the scammer as such, and heard not heard from him since.

My survival instinct worked, in that anyone asking me for money = suspicious, learnt the hard way when I got scammed by a gentleman friend when I asked him to make a small payment for my credit card bill with a paying in book. He paid it into his own credit card account instead, and conveniently lost the paying in book when I asked for it a few days later.

Frustrated with the favortism where I work (DOD). It's all about who you are friends with.
We have several people with Masters degree getting passed over for jobs because someone else in the program for 6 months is friends with everyone in program yet they only have a HS diploma and the job posting says it requires a degree.

On another one, my daughter has applied for an admin job (2nd time, she didn't get it first time due to another friend hiring) and I heard through a back channel that they already have a name of who they want (friend). Job just posted yesterday and I see them taking the (friend who they want to hire) and showing her around already so it's pre-determined.

It does no good to say anything as the chain of command are all friends

I am just so mad I could scream!

A.I. made it possible for the scammer to replicate her daughters voice and cries. The mother thought she was talking to her daughter who was telling her she had been kidnapped and was in a dark basement. She was crying telling her mom they would kill her if her mom didn‘t pay the ransom or if she called the police. Her daughter was on vacation at the time. The mother said she had no doubt it was her daughter she was talking to. Scary as hell.

Reminds me of the scene in Terminator 2, when Arnie's T2 tried to establish if Connor's foster parents are still alive, by asking if the family dog is OK and used a false name for the dog.

Thank you, it's just so frustrating. I even confronted the head boss and asked if the job had been predetermined and she said "not to my knowledge and said she would poke around but problem is she is in the friend group so I dont' forsee her owning up to it.

Ibuprofen helps a little bit.
This really interferes with things I love to do, like painting and creating jewelry.
And I'm having trouble getting my rings on.

I have also. Which is why my finger size keeps changing. Frustrating to be sure--I'm sorry.

I've been asking questions, and it appears to be hereditary on Mom's side.

I have it in my thumbs. Mainly the right one which stinks because I'm right handed. Mine hurts more on some days than others. I do take ibuprofen, and also use an ointment called Voltaren. I also use compression gloves like these. The gloves do seem to help.

For sure my right CMC joint is the bane of my existence. Poor big old joint. poops

The ointment contains a stronger non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID, Ibuprofen is a weaker one) drug called Diclofenac.

It worked well as a topical medication for muscular skeletal pain when I needed it for my knees.

My friend's sudden death and left no will promoted me to have a will in place.

There are a number of charities that offer free wills if you make a donation to them.

Off I went and found a charity that I like to support from a list, only to find I was not eligible as I have a business.

Same with all the other charities that offered free wills.

Maybe Zirconium this time! Expensive as a newer material, but tough. We'll see. I have a few of those already.
If they ever do diamond ones, I'm sure I'll switch them all out and have them precision cut

I have to tell a white lie in order to avoid having to car share for a 2h+ journey each way with someone that bores me to tears.

Very bad I know, however, I just can't bear spending too long in her company, let alone 2h+ each way!

That's just the journey to a location for a 3-day group weekend, and I don't intend to hang out with her - I just can't!

Thank you both so much for this tip!
I bought the Diclofenac cream and it seems to help a lot.
I hope I'm not speaking too soon, but I've been applying it for 6 days now, and there is a distinct difference in the level of pain and swelling.
I also switched from ibuprofen to naproxen sodium.
The combination of these two pain relievers seems to be working so far......!
