So sorry that you had that terrible injury. Burn injuries are so bad.
My fault entirely, I thought I did not need sunscreen, WRONG!

@dk168, I went to the beach last year and sat under an umbrella, thinking I wouldn’t need sunscreen. Boy was I wrong, I was so burnt I think I had sun poisoning.
Sorry you’re having to deal with a bad burn, it is very uncomfortable. I just kept putting aloe on it and that seemed to help.
I don't get burnt nowadays as I avoid the sun.
When I got burnt at 14, I was wearing a swimming suit (I was learning to swim at a swimming pool at the time in Hong Kong in the summer, DOH), and peeled badly where the skin was exposed. Very stupid thing to do.

Sorry, missed the part that you were 14 at the time! Anyways, we are at least wiser now as a result, I’m not a beach person anyways so it’s easy to just avoid it entirely, fair skin and beach are Just not a great pairing.
Thank You notes - are they truly a lost art? For several years, I have sent very generous checks for high school/college graduation to family members. Nieces and nephews, we rarely see. 3 of them I have not seen since they were toddlers. My checks were cashed immediately but we never received a thank you note. Heck, even a text would suffice! My kids know better - you need to respond and be thankful!
I need to be kind.
I must remember to be kind.
Being able to bite my tongue and being diplomatic are not my strong points!

Aaaaaaagggggggggghhhhhhhhh!
Feel better now, thanks for letting me vent.
I still have to bite my tongue, however, rather than just to listen to the negative comments/moans/whatever, I have started to counter-reason/argue.
"Can't do this and that because of this and that" was met with "yes, however, it does not mean you can't do something else, just need to change and adapt!"
Not sure if it went down well or not, however, it made me feel better for it.
Can't stand people who moan, what good moaning? Do something instead!
One of my ex-colleagues and friends said I don't moan, I complain. And when I asked him what he meant, he replied moaning leads to nothing, whereas a complaint usually leads to some form of action(s) being taken.

A complaint made along with a possible solution can be viewed more favorably than a complaint made by itself.
Indeed, however, the recipient may react strongly against suggested resolution as he/she may think you are telling him/her how to do his/her job.
That has happened to me a few times, hey ho!
DK
It is possible but a suggestion suggests that you have given the issue some thought and tried to come up with something that might work. Far better than just a complaint that you are throwing in their court to fix. Open minded people should try to appreciate it. Might not work, might need modification but it can be a starting point.
One of the reasons I was rejected by a government agency nearly 20 years ago was that I was "too helpful" when a deficiency was cited during a role play session, by offering ideas of possible remedial actions.
Lesson learnt the hard way!
As I had said, more than once I offered possible remedial actions and was told I was interfering/teaching grandmothers how to suck eggs/etc. etc.., so I seldom bother nowadays.
DK
That is unfortunate that they took that position. Being able to listen is key to being a good leader. Sorry that it happened to you that way.
I can understand why they do not allow their staff to offer help individually without consultation with the others, in that one person's idea of being enough is not necessarily the same as another in the same position or high rank with more experience, etc. etc...
Their approach is for the company to come up with remedial actions and submit them, for government agency to agree/disagree.
I understand that as an end result, but in an individual circumstance, suggestions for future
brainstorming sessions couldn’t hurt. The company is not one person. However, if you understand their methods and accept them, then all is well!

Brain storming involving more than one subject matter experts may be needed for more complex and serious issues. It depends on the nature of the issues.
