Welp, pipe just cracked under the house and guess what, it's so old there is no individual shut off to the shower. So, no water house wide until tomorrow. Joy!
* Thank glob my DH can do plumbing. He's more annoyed than anything- it's in the crawl space portion of our basement so there's only 3 ft of clearance. It's gross and wet.
All hail PEX and all it's fittings, means no sweating pipes in small spaces!
What's our motto kids? It's always something.

we had that happen a year or two ago
before we brought it the house had had its water pipes replaced......except for one metre????? -guess where it broke ?
we went to bed and heard water running
got the torch and it was a lake under there
had to fossok around out in the grass on the other side of the front fence trying to find the toby to turn it off in the dark
i would normally have filled up the bath or at least the electric jug but i had to run over next door the next morning with a bucket
but yes it is gross under the house
we have about 1m clearence so we had to get a skinny plumber, the little door is too small for anyone except Boris the cat - the poor apprentence got sent out
Thanks Daiz, it is! Pex to the rescue!
Same, it was the last little bit of old piping. Luckily we have supplies because we didn't have water hooked up when the power went out until last year, so we had plenty of bottled for winter storms still. Yes, it was definitely a reminder that plumbing made the world
First night trying to sleep in the land of the midnight sun.. in a tent.
This is what it looked like outside at 11pm:
That is as dark as it got all night.
Hubby can fall asleep within five minutes under absolutely any circumstances. I can have trouble falling asleep in a dark room - though I can usually stay asleep once I fall asleep. I never managed to fall asleep last night. And we’ll be traveling a lot farther north before we turn south again, and we’ve got another week or two to go before we hit the equinox.
Funny thing is, we were only about 150 miles south last night, but the difference in the level of darkness at night seemed like, well, night and day.
I brought some herbal sleep capsules that have worked pretty well for me in the past. I didn’t take one last night because I had no idea how bad it would be! I didn’t bring a full complement… I’m hoping that I brought enough to get me through the three weeks left of this trip!
Sorry for your insomnia--but what a gorgeous photo!! You are in a beautiful part of the universe.....enjoy your holiday!
Not one to complain usually, but this was me yesterday on the way home from having a basal cell carcinoma with a deep root removed. It's extremely painful & tight, with ten stitches along my hairline.
The good news is that it was contained & all removed in one go, so it will never reoccur & I am counting my lucky stars that I don't have to give it another thought.
But please.... Check your skin, peeps.
This wasn't a mole or anything typical we would associate with skin cancer. It was a 3mm little pink pearly type hard blister, like a bead. Tiny. I only noticed it due to lotion & potion application & got it checked out on a whim 12 months after I first noticed it.
So glad you're ok

Yes, I did use Dr. Google. I'm hauling DH in to be there as soon as the office opens. He should have been seen a week ago. Hoping it is still an easy repair and doesn't need a full surgery at this point! This man is backwards, I swear! Got a little scratch? The world is ending and it must have flash eating bacteria. Leg hanging by a thread? Nah, I'm good!

My mother is in a rehab center (the nursing home kind, not the substance abuse kind) for now.
She has refused to acknowledge some mental health issues for decades and obviously refused therapy or meds. Which has meant that ever so often there is an incredible upset in which she becomes severely ill and just cannot do anything, can’t eat/drink/take meds, move, etc. It is taxing on us all. It happened a lot when I was a kid and she didn’t want to go on vacation. Or the night before my first wedding. Or any time she isn’t getting ALL the attention. Since she has always been a SAHM or not employed outside the home it’s been easy for her to hide her issues. Now that she is going on 81 years old and has actual physical health issues things are getting real.
She has given some unsavory people access to her home and bank accounts, among other things, recently. This has caused major upset for my brother and I as well as my SIL who due to proximity usually ends up dealing with her when my brother is working.
A few weeks ago we were at her home for Mother’s Day and she asked us again to start making notes of what we would like from her estate or to just tell her (this had gone on for years) I finally just said “I would really like these 3 pieces of art.” She became SO irate you’d have thought I asked for her entire collection or more. It’s literally 3 pieces that would have meaning only for me and no one else in our family nor her circle. Her reaction was so over the top we just said our goodbyes and left. Since then I’ve had an uneasy feeling that things aren’t right.
One of the people she has allowed into her home the past several years to clean and help with various tasks she has told me is involved in an online relationship with a man overseas, and to me it has always sounded like this woman is being scammed. And I wonder if she is taking money from my mother to send to him. I’ve alerted my brother and SIL but I worry some damage may have already been done. She and my father were extremely good with finances but when people are grieving and lonely they are easily taken advantage of.
Hopefully she gets better and we can actually discuss realistic options. If not I’m afraid my brother and SIL and I have a serious fight on our hands.

@Ally T get well soon!
I got badly burnt when I was 14, and had been avoiding the sun ever since.
I wear a wide bream bucket hat when I go out, and would only sit in the shade when it is sunny.
I joked about other people chase the sun when I chase the shade as I kept moving to the shades during a recent camping trip!
Yes to applying sunscreen, including back of my neck and legs which I usually forget!
