Let it all hangout -- The Grumpies, whinies, complainies Get It Off Your Chest Thread....

@RunningwithScissors so sorry to hear about your loss.

Please be assured that you did what was the right thing to do under the circumstances.

I am certain your dog knew that, and appreciated what you did for her in her final hours, to be at home surrounded by her family, human as well as doggies.

R.I.P. and run free now across the rainbow bridge.

Today is my birthday and I’m currently rushing my hamster the the emergency vet. We think she had a stroke. Please send prayers. I’m absolutely devastated and heartbroken

I'm so sorry...
I was okay all day and now I'm super weepy. Sorry guys. Maybe it's because I'm tired.

Each day brings reminders that make me sad.

I was so sad to read your post, but wanted to share a similar experience in case it was comforting. I had an almost identical experience with my 9 year-old dog whom I adored and also had small cell lymphoma and brought home instead of euthanizing him at the vet because I wanted to give him "one last good day." I've lost a lot of people in my life and cared for them to the end, but my dog's last night was traumatic beyond anything I've experienced, and he was in such pain. For a long time, I replayed the awfulness in my head, thinking I'd betrayed him, but more and more I can forgive myself because I just really didn't know, and, in the midst of it all, he knew he was deeply loved. He was still eating peanut butter even at the very end. The vet told me (and I don't know if this is true) that animals have a different relationship to pain than we do, and that often other forms of comfort (affection, safety) can be more salient to them--you certainly gave your pup that and much more. I hope you give yourself all you need to heal and remember your furry friend fondly.

Ordered a smart video doorbell, after another report of suspicious activity by the same vehicle and person in less than a week.

Additional lighting has been installed outside my front door; and my nextdoor neighbours are investing on more lighting and security cameras for their property.

Cameras are good to have. We have them on all sides of the house.

Usually, we have no nefarious activity.
Sometimes we get squirrels or racoons on camera.
The funniest thing was recording the neighbor's house sitter (who locked himself out) peeing between our houses.

Back in May 2021, my old dog did a poo upstairs in the bedroom which was totally out of character as he had never done that before.

Compounded with decreased in mobility, I booked him to see the vets right away the next day.

They prescribed 2 medications for him right away, one for muscular skeletal pain, and the other for cognitive issues as he could be going senile.

2 days later, he was dead, died at home, in peace, surrounding by his family as in me and the cat.

I do not believe he was in pain, just had enough, turned over to let out 2 very loud and unusual cries as if to say goodbye; three short breaths later, he was gone.

I still beat myself up nowadays thinking whether I should have started his medications sooner to this day.

I would like to believe I had done what I could at the time to make his final days/hours comfortable, and that he died knowing he was loved.

Thinking/writing about it still makes me well up to this day, and I think of him all the time.

He has left a huge void, some of which has been filled by the new dog, bless him.

Yes, but you have GIANT spiders! Everywhere! Seems nefarious enough to keep an eye out! :wavey: :saint:

Haha, yes we have spiders...... but they were no help in this instance! They just run away!
Woulda been funny if he got bit that day......

We have cameras on our property too. We get little notices on our phones when the cameras detect motion...

...a perfect set up for pranking my husband! Hee hee...

For about a week beforehand I'd been complaining to him that I thought a critter was living under our back porch. I said it sounded REALLY BIG and that we should call the exterminator. He's kinda cheap and didn't want to spend the money to call out pest control.

Then when he was traveling for work and I was home, one night right before bed, I put on this costume (this is a pic of me the night of the prank). I crawled across our back porch, triggering the cameras, and clawed at our back door! OMG he called me within seconds in total hysterics. He haaaaates clowns. Like phobia hates clowns. :lol-2:.

Oh yay baby! Back in high school we used to be obsessed with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. And of course Rocky Horror. And Blue Velvet/Twin Peaks/any David Lynch creation.

Darn you! Now I have that song in my head! What I can remember of it without googling... "Just think of Mr. Marbage, while taking out the garbage...he turned around and what did he see? A tomato hiding in the tree! Tomatoes will have their day..." (or something like that).

Ha ha! Nothing really under the porch, just wanted to put the notion in my hubby's head that something was lurking there...something REALLY BIG!

Offered someone a lift to an event, not particularly want to as I do not particularly enjoy her company.

She has known about this event for a while, and it is this evening in another town.

She asked about the pick up time today while she texted me about something else.

Suggested a time in order to arrive in good time to get the drinks in, due to rush hour traffic and the venue could be busy due to 50% off everything (food and drink and bowling).

Nope, too early as she may not finish work and be ready in time. :roll2:

So I said she could drive herself there, meaning I am not going to change my plan and be late myself.

I have offered to get her a drink in the event she is late. Got the drink, no size, and had to ask for that information.

It is like drawing blood out of a stone in all my exchanges with her, very tiresome.

Just another example why I prefer to do things on my own, as I really CBA to fit into other people's schedules!

I must remember to be kind!!!

I might have fallen a "too good to be truth" scam and bought a garden ornament that might be as good as a chocolate teapot.

Thank goodness it is only for a small sum of money!

My daughter's phone was stolen by one of her middle school students on Thursday. She doesn't know who took it.
She spent the weekend dealing with replacing it.
For various reasons she had to get a new phone number. So there is the nuisance of that.

Fortunately, it was locked. Also it was 8 years old and she intended to replace it soon anyway.
But still.

Last week a student threw crayons at her back. When she turned, one hit her face. She does not know who did it.
A rowdy bunch this year.

It sounds like they are picking on her, which is horrible. If it continues, it should be reported to the school authorities. It's so hard on kids when they feel like they are a target of bullies. I hope she is okay.

I lost my mobile/cell phone only once years ago in the early 90s, it was a hassle to replace and I would hate to lose it now.

The principal and vice principal know what goes on and are actually very supportive. It's not just her; all the teachers in her school are dealing with worse than usual behavior from the kids this year. Not an evening goes by that she doesn't have to phone or text some of the parents about schoolwork not being done or poor classroom behavior. But the parents are often part of the problem; some don't even check their kids' grades on the parent portal.

I asked her why she thinks this may be a worse year and she said that last year there were too many long-term subs-- because of the teacher shortage-- which resulted in kids falling behind academically and unlearning how to behave. She says few students are working at grade level.

This is her first year teaching, which makes it all the more challenging. It's a magnet school; kids have to enter a lottery to get in. It seems to me that a number of the kids need extra help, but where is that to come from? Kids cannot be kept after school for it. They have to go home on the buses at dismissal time.

I'm sorry, I must have misread your post and thought that your daughter was a middle school student, not a teacher. So it isn't a student to student bully situation, but misbehaving students generally.

I know when my daughter was in school, there was a late bus just for the kids who had to stay after in detention. But my school system is a town system so probably easier to do that.

Got my flu and covid shots yesterday, both in my left arm.

Ouch. Grumpily reminding myself I'm blessed to be able to access them, and the side effects have been quite mild all things considered.
