Let's play a game... rainbow gems.

Well this is encouraging
Trade me is NZ ebay but more kind of next door neighborly
Mind you like Ebay its a bit too much of caveat emptor for my liking
i once brought a silver ring thinking it was gold because the picture was gold and trade me were unsympathetic - thankfully the seller let me back out

Anyway

just giving the colour black a bit of a look in to our rainbow

They truly do! I’ve always heard of garnets being dark/blacking out but have been lucky not to experience it in something I’ve purchased online.

Thank you- I also love the color on this one. It was cut by Alex Weber @premiergemstones on Instagram :)

@Eli22 I feel like garnets really make the most of precision faceting... and this is one of the prettiest reds I've ever seen! It looks like Dorothy's slippers. May I ask who cut it?

While we are waiting on yellow ....file-20180709-122271-nk7jdx.jpgits been raining all week here
Its miserable but we needed it
so staying with black i thought id show my dad's onyx cuflinks
I was planning on getting a silver bangle made but now i think a ring would be really cool
i don't know what the metal is
Im assuming silver but its a bit golden looking ?
There are no markings on it except genuine onyx on a tiny sticker inside their box
But im sure it could still be bonded onto a silver ring and braclete
I think it would have awsome finger presence
My sister has Dad's signet ring
i hope she wears it ....

Too funny you should mention Alex! We were literally just chatting about tsavorites. Anyway, yes, overly dark red garnets are something most of us try to avoid. But when they're in that sweet spot, like yours, and have the benefit of precision faceting, they're right up there with the best of them!

I thought about including brown and black here, but figured we'd run out too fast! But I love black gems, like you do!! Anyway, inquiring minds want to know how the roast came?

P.S. Love that you included your dad's cufflinks!!

Another green: fluor-uvite (a tourmaline species) from Mogok, Myanmar, coloured vivid green by vanadium:

You have some seriously rare and unusual gems in your collection, my friend! I love these raw crystals.

Some times i scratched my head at the tripe i type on the internet :lol-2:
(The roast - not dad's cuflinks)

Did the roast pork in the slow cooker
my first two attempts have been horrible and dry and cooked too long

this time added no liquid, just sitting on a cut up apple
3 1/2 hours on high
the fat rendered perfectly and the meat was moist
Peeled off hot the skin and put it in the nutri oven where i was doing the roast veges
the best crackling ive ever done !

I think if anyone has brown they would like to share it could sneak into red, pink, or orange

i would love to see more black
lots of black clouds today
like cartoom clouds
Thought I'd bet it
didn't
Got drenched

@Daisys and Diamonds Your roast sounds divine!!

That is the finest iolite I've ever seen, @Eli22. And I don't think anyone had shared that gem yet. Beautimous!!

@AudreyC I remember we were always taught at the GIA that garnet came in every shade but blue. Then these color change stones were discovered, and the gem community went bonkers! I had an opportunity to buy a really fantastic one back when JTV had a large quantity right after they were found. Kicking myself ever since! Yours is fabulous!!

Wow she is so fiery, @ChaiK! I love that it is a round too. You don't see that very often.

@voce Still drooling over this suite, my friend! You and Inken are an amazing collaborative team!! Is it white gold or platinum? Did I already ask that? lol

We've had pink and red, so ORANGE is up again!

I was lucky to buy this from someone who is a collector and a fan of garnets. I love to collect and carry my colour change stones with me, examining them in different light conditions :mrgreen2:

I'll take green this go-round! New 2.63ct. tsavorite from Jim McCormick. It has neon saturation with a medium tone. Never goes dark, unlike some of the other vivid tsavs I've ordered. It does have a feather off to one side under the crown, but you really have to look for it. BLUE is next!

Yeah, I’m gonna need to see more pics of this baby.

In the center of the photo is my purple sapphire from Precision Gem. Sorry if there are other colors, but I don't store most of my loose gems by themselves anymore.

I love those trays. They are a game changer, when it comes to visualizing layouts.

And I’m loving those color combos. Especially the paraiba with the orange red halo and the yellow with the green halo. :kiss2:

I can't really see her finger well, but is she the one with a padparadscha engagement ring? :mrgreen2: Or is that Beatrice? They look so alike!!

Here's some orange, a detail of orange & orange/pink sapphires in matrix with pseudomorphs of limonite after pyrite from Luc Yen, Vietnam:
Pinkish-orange sapphire in matrix detail.JPG

It matches the colours in @Daisys and Diamonds tulip quite well I think.

Of course, I love the brilliance and fire of faceted gems. But there's just something enchanting about seeing our beloved gems just as mother nature created them, and unaltered by man. Especially padparadschas! Looks at that crystal structure of the top column!!

YELLOW is up!

Her sister Princess Eugenie (she has dark hair and has the look of her father with the big popy eyes like Queen Victoria)
Looks a bit like her mother's

Bea's
Beatrice is the red head like her mum,
Both ladies had very minimalistic jewlery taste

Bea doesn't even have pierced earso_O
but of late Bea has been wearing very nice pieces possibly gifted by her husband (or inlaws)

we went for the most lemon one with the trim the bright green at the top, i have all the paint, but Gary has had the eye problems so we live in limbo

Our house is mid century and lucky we live in a town where people don't automatically paint everything grey
