oh i forgot - MS i like the knot profile too!!

i''ve been sorta lurking on the knot boards... and i wholeheartedly agree w/all of you gals, P&E board is just too much for me! how can ppl be so mean?! although sometimes i check it when i need a good laugh.... a bit ironic that it''s called planning and ETIQUETTE dontcha think? i like the reception ideas and dress boards tho. and the local ones are fun too.

rfath- also love that dress!!! any pics of you in it?! i am looking at something similar to that but w/pink sash - seen anything? sigh. i have yet to find anything, but im hoping spring collections might have some PINK!! hehe. can i say i''m such a girl? i love pink.

I haven''t been paying a whole lot of attention to sash dresses , but most of the ones that I''ve come across have a more mauve color to the pink. Maybe some of the more ''expensive'' makers can custom-make the sash in a different color, or you could have one made yourself with the sash color and fabric that you choose, using the one that comes with the dress as a pattern.

I''ve got pics of me in the dress, but they''re SO poor I''m scared to share them! I love that it''s not a traditional a-line dress: it''s incorporated some of a fit-and-flare finish, so it''s slightly fitted along the hips before it flares a bit around the knees. Sounds weird, but it really looks nice.

rfath - that''s how my dress fits as well. Doesn''t it sound hideous when you try to describe it to others?? I love the shape though - I was told it''s called a "modified trumpet" shape when I purchased the dress. It''s a bit different from what you see everyday. I asked my mom repeatedly - is my butt/hips too big for this dress? because it is a bit sexy. But apparently it''s a flattering shape

Are any of y''all (yes, I''m from Oklahoma) short? I love looking at all of these beautiful dresses and I keep trying to think what style I''d like to wear ~ but I''m 5 feet tall and just can''t picture any of them on me!!! All these bridal gown models look 10-feet tall to me (8 feet of which appear to be legs!!!). Plus, I''m curvy (34D w/ hips & butt to match) so not petite in a stick-like way ~ I definitely have a woman''s figure. Just curious if anyone of you has had this problem or have known petite brides & what styles looked flattering on them.

Yeah, rfath and sparkler-- go for that "sexy bride" look!!

I wish I had curves to pull a look like that off... I''ve been thinking corset, so at least I can fake some!!

teebee - I am not short myself.. but my best friend is getting married in April and it sounds as you have about the same figure as her! She is getting a very full a-line gown.

This is her gown
davis022107m.jpg

I know it is hard to picture it on someone shorter, but it looks really nice! Plus the a-line hides the hips!!

Ooooh, that''s very pretty!! I would love to try something like that ~ maybe in a strapless version, too. Alll of the "suggestions" I''ve seen for petite brides have recommended sheath type gowns and said to stay away from ballgown or A-lines ~ but I just don''t think I could pull off a slinky sheath type dress w/ all my hips, etc. Thanks MelissaSue!!

JCJD: The halter straps will attach at the top of the points. The dress almost looks like it was made for ''em. :-)

MelissaSue: Gorgeous dress! Totally amazing.

In fact, I can''t believe how many beautiful dresses have been posted in this thread. And, isn''t it a great feeling to finally have your dress in hand? I need to call this week & set up fitting for alterations.

One question for everyone... how the HECK does anyone have time to put together a knot bio complete with photos?
20.gif
I''m lucky to have started on a web site over there & my bio is merely a short paragraph long. Thank goodness they make THAT easy at least. I post on the Cleveland board & occasionally browse the Honeymoon or Northeast Ohio boards lately.

JK... I agree. I''m sitting here in awe of the brides-to-be who manage their time well enough to be able to have a profile and/or a wedding webpage! It''s still on my to-do list... maybe I''ll get it done eventually. I''m sure the OOT family would appreciate the effort.

I just got the order confimation for my dress (I bought it up in Canton, OH... where''re you from, JK?). *5* months! I suppose I can''t complain since I waited 8 months for my car, but at least with that I had a webpage where I could track the progress...

rfath: I am in the Cleveland area, just south of Hopkins airport. I bought my dress in Olmsted Falls. Though I browsed a couple of the regular bridal shops, I ended up buying mine at a consignment shop that specializes in bridal/special occasion dresses. Heh. I guess I don''t like to wait. Brought the dress right home where it hangs until my first fitting. I love looking at it! Hang in there though. 5 months will FLY by, I''m sure. Everything else seems to.

If the knot allowed photos to be posted like they are here, I''d be fine. I just don''t think it''s worth the trouble of getting a snapfish or whatever account. I already have too many things to keep track of.

My online ''priority'' will soon be our web site on the knot. I need to get some hotel info on there soon, at least!

teebee - I have a similar body type to yours. I''m a bit taller (about 5''3") and curvy (34D chest). I have a classic hourglass shape, and I found that in general, you really need to go try on different styles to know what looks best on your body. I tried on some dresses that I thought for sure would look hideous but looked fab. And vice versa. I hated the way full dresses looked on me, especially in the hip area. Plus I have a short torso, so it just looked like boobs and hips with those big dresses. No thanks!! Dresses that were very structured and cut slimmer (not a lot of exess fabric) looked good. But not flowy, drapey dresses - that didn''t work either.

The biggest tip I have is to look for gowns with some inner structure (boning) in the chest and torso area. It can be very minimizing. Plus a dropped waist style is good because it gives the illusion of a longer torso (it also holds in the lower stomach area nicely) and a smooth shape. I hope this all made sense and was helpful

melissasue and others . . . have you seen this fall 2005 monique lhullier? what do you think of it? i saw it in a bridal magazine this week (it actually looks much better in the ad than it does on this model) and thought it was really pretty, and similar to some of the all-lace dresses that MS, myself and others have been drooling over. the back of the dress is awesome too--it has a big open oval cut out of it. i''m just not sure it''s "bridal" enough. anyway it''s good eyecandy.

Ou lord...some of these make me want to be a bride again...oh yeah, and thin! LOL...
Reena, I really love that one....but I'm not loving the shoulders...looks like shoulder pads gone wrong! LOL

edited* holy c*arp!!! J-Fo- is that a laser beam on your finger or what???

Flee- I really like that dress! Reminds me of mine...I had a winter wedding. Mine was a thinned out A-line though, and no beading except for beading and drop pearls around the bottom of the sleeves and the waste. Sighn. LOL

Reena - LOVE IT! It would look gorgeous on you. I actually like the shoulders - I''ve seen that type of silhouette on someone and it''s very flattering and feminine. I like the color too, it''s a bit different. I think it''s bridal enough for sure!

i have seen that dress in magazines reena! It is gorgeous. I really really like a lot of monique lhuillier gowns, because of all the lace.. but.. I really really could never afford one!

Ok, I know you guys won''t think I''m crazy....

I''m not engaged, but I''ve already found my dress. Every now and again I go to theknot boards to check out people''s bios for fun and I saw a picture and knew it was the one.

Honestly, I''ve seen a lot of dresses and all have been ho-hum. There are a few that I liked, but not what I imagined myself in. This has it all!

It''s the Reem Acra Paradise dress.

Here is the back of the dress...

I love the intricate beading, the dropped waist, the train... *sigh* .. i love it!

that dress is beautiful twinkle toes. The embroiderey is beautiful.. and the fabric looks AMAZING!

My dress - very inexpensive, but fun for a luau style wedding - David's Bridal (where I swore I would never go, but went and actually found something!)

Just picture it without the gloves and tiara/veil.

angela - I think your dress is just the cutest thing I''ve ever seen!! Love the floral pattern on the top and the simplicty!

Princesstn - Your dress looks lovely and very unique. Its nice to have something "different", but yet the tulle skirt and corset back are very bridal and traditional and princess like!! Any pics of the front of the dress?

i''m just not sure it''s ''bridal'' enough. anyway it''s good eyecandy.

reena- i was at a bridal salon saturday and they were having this trunk show and the designer convinced one girl to try on a dress like that one, very lacy w/gorgeous beading, but not a lot of train, and she initally was like ''No, it''s not bridal enough'' but he convinced her and she *adored* it. And to make it a complete look, the designer had a floor length veil with matching lace edging... believe me, SHE LOOKED BRIDAL!!! With the veil, it was perfect - so I wouldn''t worry about whether the gown looks bridal or not, if you love it and gotta have it.... it will look awesome!!!!!

Reena -- I love this dress also!! It''s SO bridal and beautiful -- and timeless!

Teebee, I was in a wedding this fall with an even shorter and curvier bride! (4''10" and 34E) and she had a really well-structured Anne Barge strapless. I will see if I have a good pic to post for you!

ok, let''s see if this works:

And a shot of the front

I was really surprised she chose a strapless with her frame, and it was an absolutely perfect dress--so elegant and stunning and well-made.

Ok gals, I *think* I found the dress!!! Ack I am so excited... except not excited about the price... though it is pretty reasonable for a wedding gown (amazing that anything under $1000 is considered "reasonable")
Funny thing is, it looks really diff than the style of dress I thought I wanted...

it''s a simple ivory colored strapless Aline, w/a soft sweetheart neckline and plain except for some ''champagne'' ribbon accents across the torso... back has buttons down the entire train. very very simple and elegant looking. i love it!!
