Alice, it''s beautiful! I love the cowl back--especially if you plan to have your back to the guests at the ceremony, I love a "wow" back on a wedding dress!

Very dainty and feminine!

Here''s Mine!

Oh gals, reading this thread makes me happy. I''ve been so dang stressed about the upcoming wedding which is in 116 days (not that i am counting the days that closely, but I just counted them up)

I had thought we could keep it all really simple, under 5k (ha!) and it''s at about 20k. Todd and I are in process of negotiating btwn us what''s more important and frankly, it''s stressful. I''ve actually been semi pouty over some things which is so immature but this is all rather emotional. I want a certain photographer and the pave wedding band though, i guess i can''t have everything.

I''ve heard that marriage requires lots of negotiating, and it''s a skill i am learning.

So, i really appreciate your nice emails commenting on my dress. It''s really lovely. I got it at Elaine''s bridal (www.elaines.com) in Edmonds Washington. It''s their Santorini line, though i think the actual designer is someone else, but they don''t give out that info. It cost $1800 which way way over budget but when i tried it on and just knew it was it, i decided to go for it.

I really need to get my butt to the gym to concentrate on my back and arms so that i look especially hot in it. That''s a whole other topic, stress involved in getting ourselves to look especially beautiful...

ohy my gosh! LuvThatSparkle.. that gown.. WOW.. its GORGEOUS.. I LOVE it!! Probably tons of $$ though right?

Alice.. your dress is beautiful..you''ll look great on it!

I just made a little binder of all the dresses I like.. My way of not doing my school work..It came out cute though!

Melissa

Great lace on that dress, MelissaSue...especially the train. You would do your grandmother proud in that one! I think I spent $300 on a dress and thought it was expensive! But then I remember gasoline at 29.9 cents per gallon. (That was *before* I was nubile!)

Deb

I should be writing a paper, but I think I found the dress instead!!! This is from the Mon Cherie collection, carry over styles, # 23245. Simple and gorgeous!!! I''d want it in white though, I think this is spun gold. I hope I can try it on!!!

JCJD...congrats on the engagement and wonderful dress! When will you get to start trying on dresses?

Alice...I completely understand how you feel right now! I didn''t want to spend too much on my gown and ended up spending twice as much as anticipated but fell in love with it when I slipped it on. So the "just for fun" dress became "THE dress." But my fiancee has been so great at supporting me through this stressful time. I realize I am startng to freak out and get overly emotional at every little detail. Argh..and this is still 8 months before the wedding!

only 4 more months til i get to try on my dress again....oh this waiting game is getting frustrating!!!

OMG this is so much fun!

i know this sounds strange but i sometimes "forget" that i am actually engaged and thus can legitimately do things like look for dresses and wedding bands and reception sites! (people keep asking me if we''ve set a date and i''m like, uh . . . i guess i have to do that at some point, huh.)

you all know what this means--a whole new section of the pricescope board to frequent! whoo hoo! i haven''t spent much time at all over here so i was of course very pleased to see the names of all of my regular pricescope friends over here!

so: wedding dresses. someone help! my general problem is that i really do not like most wedding dresses--i see them and i can appreciate that they''re pretty for someone else, but i have only seen a very very few that made me go, wow! that looks like me! one of the ones i do especailly like is the same melissa sweet lace gown posted by melissa sue. i think i need a dress with a long straight silhouette like that ("sexy bride", my mom calls it, lol) because frankly i am a total ectomorph with zero boobs and practically no hips, so i don''t think a poufier or a-line style would be as flattering on me. the only problem with the MS dress is that it''s strapless, which i also don''t think would be particularly flattering on me, not simply because i have no boobs but also because i have a super-bony chest. (man, im making myself sound disgusting!) i think i would look best in a halter or a cowl neck like alice''s dress (yes i just read this entire thread, lol). so, long, straight and slinky, cowl or halter neck. also i tend to like "girly" details (like ribbon accents, bows if SMALL, or a scalloped bottom similar to another one recently posted by melissa sue, and also similar to jail bait joel''s dress, if anyone knows what i''m talking about) but i am not really big on embroidery or beading or any of that. SO: anyone have any ideas???

i saw a beautiful carolina herrera gown in a bridal magazine the other day (oh, and yes, in case you''re wondering, i DID steal the magazine from the nail salon, LOL) that i really loved (at least from the back, cause that''s all they showed) but i have no idea how to go about finding it online. sigh. it was slinky with a mermaid-style train, and it had light pink ribbon straps and a light pink ribbon bow (a small one) in the back. (sounds horrid; it wasn''t.) i''ll try to see if i can dig it up . . .

Thanks tulipcloud! We''re planning a June 2005 wedding, so I need to find the dress quick! I''m going to try to start looking this weekend, probably at David''s as well as some local shops. I''ve got my 4 bridesmaids scattered across the country (my sis in town with me, one in VA, one in IL, another in TX!!!!) so I want to try to get something from a national chain store so they can all try the bridesmaid dresses on before they buy and we can get a discount. I think J. Marie''s carries Mon Cherie dresses, so I''ll try there too. If all else fails, we''ll look for bridesmaids dresses at Sears or JC Penny''s.

Gorgeous dresses Luv and Alice!! I really like the back and sleeves on yours Luv, and drape necklines are so gorgeous Alice! What kind of veil is that you''re getting? Do you have any ideas for your hair?

okay, here is the jail bait dress. I LOVE IT. anyone seen anything similar, anywhere?

What do you think of this gown reena? I think its gorgoeous.. but its not bridal enough for me. Its Watters bride. They have lots of slinky dresses.. not so much lace though.

Here''s another one.. sorry I don''t have any ideas on the jail bait dress..

Here''s another watters gown.. dont'' know exactly what the bottom looks like though

a cowl neck from david''s bridal galina collection. It''s pretty.

Hey.. I''m like you were with posting rings only with posting wedding dresses!!!!!!

Galina 8358 front.jpg

HEre''s the back of that dress.. I think its really neat looking.

I have to say this is the first "Post Your Dress" thread where I love all of the gowns on here. They are all so fabulous! Especially those lace beauties and well mine of course (hee hee).

I can''t wait to lose enough weight to be able to fit my dress well enough to be able to post some pics. That photo does nothing for it!

Keep the lovelies coming!!!!!

The Watters bride dress does NOT look like a wedding dress to me. If you love it, buy it and wear it out on other occasions. Wear a gown you could only wear as a bride at your wedding. (That's my thinking, obviously. Not meant as a Diktat!!)

The Eden bridals dress is lovely everywhere but at the neckline-where it looks like lingerie. I would avoid wearing something that looks like a negligée for your wedding night. I have seen similar lace on other gowns (probably posted by you or MelissaSue). The lace is GORGEOUS.

I, also, love the "jailbait" dress.

Deb

oooh, melissa sue you are the best! we do have similar taste. i especially like the cowl neck dress, front and back. i just LOVE dresses where the back is low and the fabric is all gathered around the butt. what is that called? (it gives the illusion of having BOOTAY, which i do not. lol)

i cant see the maggie sottero dress for some reason. the very plain white dress is pretty but i sort of agree with AGFB--almost too plain. sigh. i''ll never find one.

i wonder who makes that jailbait dress? probably vera or something. sigh.

Hi girls,
I love that "jail bait" dress too. I read that it is an Oscar de la Renta dress.
I think the sleeves and neckline look lovely. Let us know if you find something similar and I''ll look around too.

OMG!!! Jail Bait Dress LOL!!!

Thanks all for the lovely compliments. The dress is gorgeous and I look gorgeous in it! Yeah!!! lol Here''s some advice from a great friend of mine currently enrolled in FIT.

1. Decide what kind of wedding you want, formal or informal and the venue. My guy and I want an informal wedding but I still want to dress up a bit. Ex. Beach wedding, no shoes, no veil, no gloves, etc.
2. Look in your closet first, check out the styles you gravitate too. If you dress up for New Years or Weddings you may already have a template for what looks great on you.
3. Check out Celebrities, choose a celebrity close in body type to yours and look at what they wear. I chose Salma Hayek and Halle Berry and believe it or not but they do wear similiar styles in dresses, this tactic helped me the most.
4. Body Type, I''m short and curvy, anything with to much detail looks like the dress is wearing me and not the other way around. I dissapear in ball gowns, and my waist is thick and I have big hips and short legs so A-lines don''t look right either, LOL
5. Skin Tone, some ladies look washed out in white, take into consideration that a gown can be ordered in Ivory too.
6. Budget, how important is it, etc.
31.gif

7. Consider Custom, if you can''t afford your dream dress have it custom made it can cost alot less.

O.K. that''s my two cents.

okay, i FOUND the carolina herrera dress. problem is i can only find a front view not the back view, and i hadnt seen the front view before. not sure i like the neckline or that it would be flattering on my bony chest. what do you guys think? also you can see the ribbon straps--but they''re light pink. pretty nontraditional, i know--but then again so am i. the back has a small ribbon bow of the same color as the straps.

herrera.JPG

okay, i lied! here is the back view. i love the back view. also it is apparently available with cream straps/bow. still though, not sure about the front. (or about paying for a carolina herrera gown, lol)

herrera2.JPG

hmmm, it''s very feminine. I like it. But I can see why the front might bother you. Go take a look at it in person. Also, try Knot.com they have a great database full of pics, also weddingchannel.com.

oooh, okay, i also like this one. (but, strapless.) do you guys think the big bow is too much?

herrera3.JPG

I like the bow, looks like origami! But if you''re short like me 5ft. and kinda petit the bow may take over.

i''m five eight and a half so i could probably pull it off. but, i bet if i actually tried it on i wouldn''t like it. sigh. anyone know approximately how much her dresses are? i promised myself that i wouldn''t let myself fall in love with some $8000 gown. (i''d rather have a less expensive gown and a nicer wedding band!
31.gif
)

Oh yeah you can pull that off! no problem!! That would look stunning on you! A lightly padded push up and your set to go! lol As for the cost........I have no clue. But I wouldn''t be surprised if it was about $4000.00. Hey what do ya think of these

LeEzu.jpg

OK I found this dress that looks like something you might like, Reena. I hope the attachment works b/c I've never posted a pic before. It is made by Rivini.

Caption for the dress says, "Think pink in this cowl neck lace gown with ruched midriff and ribbon accents at waist and shoulders by Rivini."
