It''s a gloomy day over here in Connecticut so I thought I''d brighten it up with some rainbows :D
here''s the best I could manage with my smaller stones
dogsandgems051.jpg

garnet, garnet, citrine, peridot, chrome diopside, ?, amethyst

and here are what I call the honkers,
dogsandgems054.jpg

opal in matrix, citrine, bi-color something-or-other, ?, ?, blue topaz, ?, amethyst

it was a fun and frustrating project. definitely not the best photos of the stones but it''s difficult to get the best qualities of every stone in a group shot.
If the sun decides to pop out from behind the clouds maybe I''ll try again in some better light.

anyone else have rainbow shots?

I hope you get some nicer weather soon!

Here''s my rainbow, but it''s not in spectral order.

Amazingly beautiful! Where''s the super envious smiley??? I hope to one day have some beautifully cut stones like that. But until I''m done with school and make what it takes to get quality, I''ll just have to scour E-bay for those that are sparkly and cheap

Cellentani, your collection is beautiful, as well. Any chance you could list what your stones are?

Sorry for the dbl post!

davi, you have some wonderful stones yourself. If those stones are the beginning of your collection, you''ve done very well in quality of color - my beginning stones were mucky and hideous!

baby nurse, thanks for your comments.

From left to right: spessartite, zircon, Uruguay amethyst, Pakistan peridot, spinel, pink tourmaline, white topaz from N. Carolina, white topaz from Vietnam. The spess is 9.8mm, just to give you an idea of size. Unfortunately, the peridot and zircon are now set, so i can''t do a lineup like this anymore!

rockhugger and stepcutnut - very nice rainbows!

Gailey, looking forward to seeing yours!

My heart stopped for a second! What a stunning rainbow! Is that a pink tourmaline from Peter T? I have PT tourmaline in identical shape, lighter pink. Love the cut.

Does it have to be loose stones? Here are my rainbow of color stone rings.

yingh, those rings are incredible!!! The oval pink tourmaline in my lineup is one of Barry''s supernovas. You know, I think we''re practically neighbors - we should meet up sometime. Intergem is coming in May....

Wow cool! What a great start davi_el_umejor! Your rainbow comprises of some nice, vibrant colors too, though a little windowed, maybe you can think of a project to put them altogether!:)

ROY G. BIV!

Red = pyrospessartite garnet
Orange = Ethiopian faceted opal
Yellow = huge honking citrine
Green = tsavorite
Blue = zircon
Indigo = tanzanite
Violet = amethyst

Great rainbows.

cellentani, I didn''t know that we are neighbors! We need to have a play date.

I was referring to the rectangular cut pink stone in your lineup. What is it? I love Barry''s supernova cuts and his rounds are my favorite.

Great eye-candy thread!

I want to play so bad with something completely different, but forum rules prevent it. Sigh.
