Let's talk about CS projects in progress

My new Jeff White tourmaline - 2.83ct, 9.93 x 7.95mm. I asked for up to but not over 10 x 8mm, and as close to that limit as possible. I'd say he nailed it!!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this - either insert it into my Christmas ring (I think the current rubellite is a bit small), or halo it with 5 pointers and set it into 18kt yellow with holly leaves down the shank.

Either way, I think it will look wonderful!

 I want to see this luscious drop popped in the Christmas ring! Though the halo with holly sounds just as divine. I just love the Christmas ring.

That tourmaline is going to look absolutely luscious set in 18kt yg, especially with your lovely holly motif :kiss2:

My set of antique-inspired square cushion cut from Jeff W, before and after pics provided by Jeff.

I don't know how they will be set yet, however, it will be a 3-stone ring of some sort for my chubby chunky Size 11-12 US middle left hand finger.

The blue Zircon is 3.84ct measuring 7.41 x 7.41mm, and the pink Spinel pair is 1.03ct total weight measuring 4.13 x 4.13mm each.

Those colors are so bright and yummy!! Wow!! :eek2:

Hi @mrs-b :wavey:
Why a crisis of confidence if I may ask? The collection you shared recently (thank you by the way!) looks wonderful!!

Thanks, @ItsMainelyYou and @Bunnie! I'm having a bit of a crisis of confidence about my collection at the moment, so your words are very encouraging. :))

If it helps at all, I can completely understand wanting to pare down your collection to the absolute dream iterations of your favorite items! I’m not at that point yet myself, but I’m sure I’ll get there eventually :P2 Personally, I get a little sad when I don’t wear one of my pieces “enough,” lol. It would bring my heart some peace to be able to regularly wear all my jewelry!

Since I'm paring down, I'm putting a lot of pressure on myself to be certain every piece I do at this point is a forever piece. Since I'm rehoming a lot of things, the things I keep have to be better for me that the things I sell, so they have to be - to my mind - outstanding. This is leading to a degree of 'deer in the headlights' response, which means I'm freezing on making progress.

Just trying to get it right.

I wish there were more reaction options to a post than just the 'like' option. :|
All your pieces have been so beautiful, so I don't know that there's any doubt here that you'll create your ultimate personal collection! I think I can definitely understand the 'deer in headlights' kind of overwhelming feeling though. I hope you find some clarity and peace for your plan of attack!

I finally took time to finish my sentimental rabbit necklace. I put apatites in his eye holes, and think they might be too big. In the future, I may pop them out and replace them with 1mm somethings.

With him are a jade pepper & chayote gourd.

Ok, not so much "in progress" as just want to share - I will be setting this "tiny" montana sapphire (heated) in a custom ring by Daniel M. I just received the stone today. It's really hard to get nice pictures without good lighting or a tripod, but you get the idea. It scintillates a lot more and is brighter under good lighting.

Planning to set in brushed yellow gold twisted band, tulip basket and double claw prongs.

Planning a CRD tourbillon ring with a grey spinel and benitoite melee in white metal.

Trying to decide between having the darker or the lighter stones closer to the center!

Just received the final, and I’m absolutely in love. Perfect for my desired aesthetic (with slight tweaks to beef up the size and make it look sleek).1C40E337-836A-4597-A137-EAE032C783BB.jpeg

I love it! The spinel just pops and the gradient is perfection.

I'm still looking for a padparadscha, but have already decided on setting ideas :D

For the pad:

For 2 emerald projects I'm planning on:

These are both designs that I tried on at an antique store, and really liked!

I've been busy! Bought two parcels: 50+ 2mm square rubies and 10 2x4mm marquis emeralds. I now have 3 rings going with DanielM.
Immediately started planning a " mothers ring" for my mom. My birthstone is emerald, sister is ruby. I was trying to avoid anything too "Christmasy". Then I lucked upon a pretty square cut purple spinel from Jim McCormick ( moms fave color is purple, and she's an August baby).
20210306_123421.jpg

Then I still had spare emerald and rubies, so why not make a ring for my sister too? She's not much for solitaires and likes rings that are interesting. She likes opals and rosecuts. I was excited to find a grey rosecut spinel and happened to find a semi black, grey based opal..both 7x5 ovals. Hmmmm...toi y moi? Rose gold for the opal portion...she loves rose gold!

And I'm finally making my grey spinel cluster! Once I bought the frenchcut silver spinels from CRD, it all fell into place. The melee round grey spinels I bought from CRD years ago and the grey/blue center spinel is from MVM. Will be silver top with yg shank.

Gorgeous projects!!! You all blow me away with your gorgeous gems and custom designs.

I have a small setting project, while I’m on a setting spree. I have to set this 1.15 carat Namibian demantoid in this mount. It’s not the deep Russian green, but I like the minty color and the dispersion. I’ve had it for years, so I need to finally set it.

@T L ooohhh, I LOVE the minty demantoid! I don't know I've ever seen one that color. So pretty.

Thank you. The Namibians are more of a minty green with some blue.

Oh I love the tourbillon!! I'd love to find a sapphire in my dream color with this design!! Your ring is beautiful :)

It took a bit to finish, but I could not be any happier. This is absolutely perfect, and working with CvB was a complete pleasure.

That's really lovely. I adore that shade of pink! What is the gem?

I'm on a self-imposed gem buying ban, as I've started to hoard too many loose gemstones over the last year. Decided to get what I have set first before acquiring anything new (it's soo hard), so I have several projects going:

(1) Grey & Baby Pink Spinel ring by David Klass
I created a separate thread for this one. The stones have been sent to DK, so just patiently waiting at this point....

(2) Pink Sapphire stacker by DanielM
Purchased an inexpensive small hot pink sapphire from Mastercut Gems (5.8mm x 5mm x 4.7mm deep). It's pretty deep but love the color!
39704.jpg

It's being set into a rose/white gold stacking ring, and he said pictures should be ready soon!!

(3) Lavender Spinel and Tsavorite Halo ring
I already have a smaller round lavender spinel ring, but I saw this one on IG and had to have it :kiss2:. It's a Sri Lankan lavender spinel measuring 8mm x 5.7mm, which to me means "you need to halo it" for better finger coverage. I had some 2.7mm tsavorite melee that were slightly more on the minty side, and I thought they would look good together. My phone just cannot capture purple properly; I would say it shows a little pink in indirect sunlight and more saturated lavender in incandescent light.

Tsav Halo Daylight.jpg

I just received some CADs from DanielM and it's being sent off for casting soon. The spinel is bezel set in rose gold, and the tsavs are set in petal shaped bezels. The shank has a simple blossom shaped engraving, and I'm going nuts with milgrain lately.
