It’s beautiful, and I love all the prongs. It’s so secure. Many pears are only set with three prongs, and that scares me!

I love the stone and the butterfly setting. The yellow gold is perfect!

I recently had six stones set, but I wanted to showcase my spinel 8x8 mm cushion that color shifts from violet in sunlight to purple in artificial light so I’ve attached photos in multiple light sources. It also flashes pink.. I also got my 7mm spessartite set. Love the cutting on it. I had these stones for eons, so glad to finally have them set.

Looks like the sun!! You need a halo with sun rays beaming out of it.

+ manually quote/reply my upstairs...Plan to do a simple 18k bezel at the bottom to make it just like a hard candy. Love the orange color.

Thanks for the kind words. One more! I had this 9x9 purplish red spinel for eons too. It a bit like a rhodolite, but doesn’t black out like many garnets do, so I thought it was worth setting finally. I like the shape and size, and the color is pretty next to “Ms, Sweet Purple.”

I am in the process of having a vintage style sapphire diamond halo ring made by Simon Wright in London, who I found through reading about @dk168 's experiences with him. I bought the sapphire from @arkieb1 and it will be set in platinum, UK size G or roughly US 3.5.

I've asked for tapered shoulders but haven't decided if I want some sort of ornate engraving on the shoulders or not. Any suggestions? All the stones will have milgrain on the settings.

I believe engraving would go nicely with the millgrain and antique-inspired look.

Of course! The colour shifts depending on the light, so it can look cornflower blue or a bit more violet. I like the mix of blue and purple. But it never looks black, which is important to me.

In the bottom right picture it's shown with a blue sapphire I bought from @MillieLou, which I think I will set in an unworn old gold watch that I have.


I already took the mechanism out, but I need to figure out how to reuse the casing because it's oval and the stone is more angular. Another project down the line!

@paragon1234 So lovely! Blue-violet is going to be my next sapphire I pursue, though will be a while with all my setting projects I have planned. I also love watch to bracelet projects! I have one completed and one left to do.

My new Jeff White tourmaline - 2.83ct, 9.93 x 7.95mm. I asked for up to but not over 10 x 8mm, and as close to that limit as possible. I'd say he nailed it!!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this - either insert it into my Christmas ring (I think the current rubellite is a bit small), or halo it with 5 pointers and set it into 18kt yellow with holly leaves down the shank.

Either way, I think it will look wonderful!

My set of antique-inspired square cushion cut from Jeff W, before and after pics provided by Jeff.

I don't know how they will be set yet, however, it will be a 3-stone ring of some sort for my chubby chunky Size 11-12 US middle left hand finger.

The blue Zircon is 3.84ct measuring 7.41 x 7.41mm, and the pink Spinel pair is 1.03ct total weight measuring 4.13 x 4.13mm each.
