Let's talk about CS projects in progress

These are going to be so fabulous!! Are you going to get the worn blue zircon repaired? It looks like an old cut, very beautiful. Not to dissuade you from your plan (the new zircon is beautiful too), but it could fit back in the setting after a crown repair if the pavilion doesn't need help too... the zircon I had a crown repair done on with Jerry Newman didn't change in diameter.

Sadly I messed up the zircon. I was misguided a couple years ago : a lady claimed she had darkened her zircon with a heat lamp. So I tried it. Oops. Lightened it! It's pretty but too light now!

I've done a reset of a sentimental BE sapphire I bought my mother almost 20 years ago, when I was either in college or a poor recent grad. I was very tickled to find out that large BE stones are now going for around 200/ct, though it's still not an expensive stone. :mrgreen2: My mother loved this stone so much she literally wore through its prior setting.

These are CaiMao's photos, Kyo's studio setup washes out colored stones, they are a lot more vivid in real life. Looking forward to taking better photos of it before I send it off to her. 9.3mm sapphire, 2.5mm diamonds, 2.5mm tsavorite, and 1.6mm spinel. From the photos it looks like they did a fabulous job executing on the design:

Love the design and the color choices! Bold but so feminine too!

Thank you for generously sharing the learning experience. I didn't even know that was possible! :cry2: I've read that zircon only color changes at extremely high temperature like 800-1000 degrees and I can't remember if that was C or F. It's not the color change effect under long-wave radiation, right? I'm assuming its had plenty of time under incandescent light since then. Will you sell the stone after unsetting it or use it for a different purpose? (I have developed quite the blue zircon addiction. :lol-2: I just had an 11mm+ round antique pair restored.)

We share the same addiction! Do you have a thread on the 11mm?
I would love to see pics :)

Hah hah, I've seen that! I'll make one by the weekend. =)2 I'll include a few more zircons I have collected recently.

I told myself I would take a break from CS, but I most definitely have a spinel addiction. I picked up a few 3x2mm baby pink baguette spinels from CRD, hoping that they would be a good compliment to my gray spinel. I think they look pretty good together!

Gray & Pink.jpg

The idea is to use them as sidestones in an Art Deco style setting like one of the ones below, but I can't decide if I like the vertical or horizontal orientation better! My original wedding band is actually a N-S baguette diamond half eternity, so I'm leaning more toward that style.

From DK - not sure if I want to do a halo, but I do want to bezel milgrain the baguettes and maybe even the center stone

CVB Greta - what's not to love about this one

Love the color combo. Very complimentary and cohesive look!

I actually have 9 projects going at the moment (he he he) but 8 of them are lab stones.

I did get a pair of natural sapphires from Desert Rose that I plan to make into studs.

I am looking at this Stuller setting in white gold:

They sparkle so beautifully in my hand, but seem a bit meh up against my ears. Perhaps it's the 90 degree angle to the light. Does anyone else find that with darker coloured studs?

I just got two gems faceted by Michelle Mai, and I’m in love. It’s a minty green kornerupine and a orange red spinel.

They surprisingly ended up at a similar size (~6mm), and now I’m thinking... moi et toi? Am I crazy?

I have a project in the works! Daniel M is making a bangle for me with this brown diamond. Just got the CADs, which I really like, just requested some small changes. Can’t wait to see the revised ones! 766690

I love this! I have recently thought about reaching out to him for a similar project, except with my chrysoberyl. Is it going to be in silver and rose gold? Such an interesting combo! Please post finished pics.

My first project with DanielM is underway! I just mailed off these zircons, to be made into this ring:

6.60 x 4.75 mm blue zircon + 2mm white zircons, in argentium with yellow gold bezels for the lil guys
(Extra melee because I don't have a loupe and can't trust my own eyes re: "a match" lol)

I think it'll be a lovely little bit of springtime sparkle :D

Thank you! Yes, blackened silver with a rose gold bezel and clasp. Will definitely post photos once it’s finished. For now just have the final CADs, I wanted the small diamonds to be more scattered. 7C3FA33B-226E-4077-87FC-EDA5D7C86F93.png

Yay, looks bright and cheerful.

I just gave all my money to DanielM. :lol-2: Actually, I found him to be very reasonably priced, and his work looks beautiful!

I'm doing something like this pendant with my chalcedony. No diamonds and a tanzanite halo:

A ring with my tourmaline from Gene, rubies and diamonds. The idea is a twisty branch/buds:

His trellis ring with diamond melee along the cuff, using this:

And finally, a puffy heart pendant with a bow at the top using my teensy pezzottaite. Diamond melee in the center of the bow. The heart will be scrollwork.

Planning a CRD tourbillon ring with a grey spinel and benitoite melee in white metal.

Trying to decide between having the darker or the lighter stones closer to the center!

Nice quandary to be in!

I would personally pick A, because the "center of gravity" is more towards the center that way. Although B is bolder, there is a slight chance the asymmetry draws the eye away from the center stone. Just my 2 cents. Either way, it will turn out to be a gorgeous sparklebomb!

This is going to be beautiful!!!

I vote A :)

Exactly!! This needs a bypass design!!!!

I vote for A.

Both are great, but A squeaks ahead!

Really really didn’t need another project but have got all overexcited about a pad sapphire.

I’m going insane with impatience waiting for my emerald cab bracelet to be finished and cannot be without something cooking.

How about this little pad surrounded by pink diamond melee and then a white diamond halo.

Such a pretty stone! I wonder if IRL it will have both pink and orange or if it will look closer to a "pure" pink? Either way I think its lovely

It’s slightly windowed like most native cut pads but that should close in setting.

In fact maybe a pendant instead of a ring.... but same idea with the pink diamonds.
