D**N you letterpress!!!!!!

i received my bella figura sample today. the paper is so rich and thick and creamy. the design is perfectly elegant and modern at the same time. i can''t stop touching the invitation and i think i have to have it! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there goes some of my wedding budget.

Ohhh, I feel you there! I, too, fell victim to the beauty that is letterpress!!

However, I feel that I was able to work out a compromise on my budget! I am designing the invites in Word (I wanted something very simple) and am sending them to Mercurio Brothers printing. They are pretty cheap!

I just ordered 150 Save the Dates on their next to best paper (300 g somerset soft white) and it was $181, including tax. Not bad!

If I love them (and I fully expect to) I will do the same for real invites. I will post pics when I get them so people can get a sense of the quality.

WOW. That''s an amazing deal. I''m assuming they''ll be single colour? Thanks for posting your quote leeNY...many people have recommended Mercurio Bros on here but no one''s actually mentioned a quote. I am definitely going to look into this!!!

here is the invitation

I found a great website that sold sets of wedding envelopes in white or ecru with several options for lining in the white and 2 options in the ecru. The sets come with an inner and outer envelope.

Doubel Wedding Envelopes

oh great website!! thank you!

OH, cocolaw, I LOOOOVE those invitations!!! I very seriously considered them! Bella is soo pricey, but I bet they are worth every penny. They just look SO rich and elegant!

A few weeks ago, I posted a deal I found on letterpress from Ajalon printing...it''s probably not as good a deal as Mecurio Brothers, but I really liked this one design they (Ajalon) had and I''m still considering it (they extended the sale). I received their samples and they really do a lovely, deep imprint, and I really like it. In case anyone is interested in cheap(er) letterpress, the website is Ajalon (I''m not affiliated, I swear--I just liked the woman on the phone and I really think their quality is top-notch!)

Those are stunning invites! I can easily see how you fell in love with them. Only you can decide if it''s worth the extra money. I was thrilled with my invites, and the price was fabulous, but I pretty much forgot about them once they were sent, so I am glad I didn''t splurge too much with them, but that''s just me.

yes! that''s one color, one-sided letterpress on a standard size (I did 3.5 x 5 cards, and will do bigger ones for invites). If you go to their website and click on "Letterpress wedding invitations" you can mess around with their quote thing and get a sense of pricing.

They will also do the typesetting for you for I think $80/hour. Or if you have a sense of your design, they will mess around with it. They send you a proof before they print anything by email. I sent my order in and got a proof 12 hours later!

I think the way I''m doing it might be cheapest: design your own, make it a PDF in one color. It can add up if you start getting fancy with colors or hire someone to design it for you, you know?

Good luck!

Lee: this is probably a dumb question...how did you design them yourself? Did you draw out the design you want, or did you use fonts available on word or what?

Not a dumb question at all! I am the LEAST creative person I know, I literally just used fonts on Word. I used copperplate light with character spacing to make it look different, and then I used Snell roundhand bold for our names. I think it looks snazzy! I will attach the PDF proof here so you can see. Gotta wait till I get home, though. I will do it tonight!

oh gotcha!! thanks!! yeah word is about as creative as i get too haha

Here it is! Sorry so late!

I love the fonts you chose! I am a huge fan of a nice boxy but fine main font with a pretty script (but easy to read!) for the names.

Awww, thanks, Clairitek! I love them, too! I actually need to get started on designing the invites....can''t wait to post pics of the actual letterpressed cards!

that looks great!!! i love that design!!

leeny - I can''t see your pic!
