I sorted a funny shaped one out and thought it was sort of pale clear yellow, not inspiring. Then when I held it face up, like magic, it became very pretty. Not knowing much about sapphires (I’m learning) with the zoning, colour isn’t always even but when cut as a gem, the cutter knows how to maximise the colour. The stone is actually deeper than it is wide so it’s got weight but not much face. See I’m learning my terms. And I also found out that 200 grams is approx 1 carat. Woo Hoo. Best $200 I ever spent.

I love that you come back to share what treasures you come across in your sorting. It's so unusual to ever come across that kind of find so we can live vicariously through you.

Such a pretty cut on that stone and the color also, like a little burst of sunshine.

Oooh pretty stone! It almost looks like an antique cut, like an OEC or OMC.

It’s very pretty and sparkly!

Thank you. Yes, it was so exciting getting this cardboard box of treasures. Most of them are either flawed or have girdle chips so no doubt why they were “set aside”, so no $10,000 gems - ha ha. This little gem actually looks like a clear (white) sapphire on certain angles yet it has a very strong yellow band so I find it amazing that a cutter worked the stone and facets to get it facing up such a bright even golden colour.

Nice gem. .2 Grams = 1 carat or 1 gram = 5 carats.

It’s gorgeous! Lovely muted yellow like winter sunshine
