I am really wanting this diamond halo w/ 6mm round aquamarine ring from LOGR. All i keep seeing on here are posts about how bad their gemstones are. The listing says yit is VS. Has anyone seen one of theirs in person? This is going to be my dream engagement ring, and i want a spectacular aqua. Should i just buy the setting and aqua separate? Help!!

I'm not seeing a LOGR aquamarine ring that exactly meets your description; this comes close, but the only clarity rating given (SI) is for the diamonds, not the aquamarine.

The problem with LOGR's ring listings (and those of sundry other, mass market vendors as well) is that they do not show you the stone that you will actually end up with. Consequently, you can't assume you'll be happy with whatever aquamarine comes your way -- and so many aquamarines are washed out, have troubling windows.

On the other hand, LOGR's prices are certainly reasonable & they have a 30-day return policy (more generous than what eBay expects) for their non-custom items & I don't remember seeing complaints about LOGR not honoring that return-refund policies. Plus, LOGR has offices in the US and Canada to which you can return the ring if disappointed, instead of hassling with an international shipping to China.

But since you are hoping for "a spectacular aqua", think you'd be better off purchasing the stone yourself.

I agree. The other issue is that is that one has to be careful with micropave like that, in general, and a LOGR ring will be not have the best construction. LOGR uses a low amount of metal in their settings, and therefore a setting like that may not be suitable for daily wear.

MollyMalone and Pregcurious covered all my concerns; the quality of the setting may not be engagement quality to you and it is highly unlikely that the aquamarine will be spectacular. That said, if your budget is very tight, this might be an option, otherwise I would shop for the stone and setting separately. Aquamarine isn't an everyday ring stone so you'll need to baby it as an e-ring.

I posted a pic, idk if u all could see it or not, but the listing is on Etsy. I asked to upgrade the diamonds, which they agreed to, now just waiting to see if they will upgrade the aqua, or let me send them one I purchase separately. Budget is definitely an issue, as i am trying to keep it under $500. As far as the setting goes, I don't think it will be an issue, I am very easy on my jewelry. And if its terrible, like you said they do have an easy refund policy. Thanks for the advice everyone, I will update as things progress!

I found what I think will be the perfect stone, for a pretty decent price. What do you all think? Anyone?! I have actually bought an aqua from eBay for a different ring in the past and it is absolutely stunning. And what the heck is a Ghosenite(sp) aquamarine?!

No way of telling from that stock photograph, but since the seller has a 14-day return policy (keeps 5% as a restocking fee) & has fine feedback, there doesn't seem to be a downside to ordering one to see what you think of it.

ETA: if this listing

is what prompted your question about Goshenite aquamarine, I think it's safe to say the Thai seller tossed aquamarine into the title and listing so this stone would come up much more frequently in eBay's Search results.

That seemed to be the best quality stone in the 6mm I could find. I know it just has the stock photo, but it does have a guaranteed VVS clarity, and claims a medium blue color, which is exactly what I want. The previous one I bought from eBay (a 7mm flawless princess cut) I think I paid $20 for and didn't expect much, but I got lucky and it was gorgeous, so maybe I will have that luck again! Thank you for being so helpful!

I too think those aquamarines from gem_labs appear to be the most promising of what's currently listed on eBay in the desired price range. I hope you don't think I'm being a nudge, but LOGR's Etsy listing has the same price & virtually the same description as the eBay one

So it looks to me that, if you're hoping to duplicate exactly that ring -- but with your own aquamarine -- you'd want to order a 7 mm stone that's close to 1.3 carats, not a 6 mm one?

(Don't be surprised if LOGR rejects the idea of you sending a stone to their factory in China. And it would be easier, and less anxiety producing, for you if LOGR simply made a semi-mount, so you could have a local jeweler set the stone.)

I know it's been a while, but i wanted to thank those who helped me out and show you what i ended up with! I bought the aqua we talked about on ebay and it was wonderful! (Whew!) Then had it put in this custom setting by TwoBirch jewelers :)20140218_141626-1.jpg

Aquas are also not durable enough for e-rings. Sorry if someone already mentioned this, as I skimmed through the comments.

I'm glad you're happy with your ring, and congrats on your engagement! :appl: (And I know you said you were careful with your rings... and if the stone does start to show too much wear for you, you can always either get it re-polished or replace it if you choose to.)

Thank you Virginia! I've had it since Feb, and no problems whatsoever. I wanted an aqua because it is my husband's birthstone(plus i love it anyway) and diamond is mine. I am absolutely in love with it!

Beautiful! Congratulations on your engagement!

Thanks so much, LauraLou, for returning to share your pics. It's always good to see what stones people end up with; better still, when their purchase has a happy ending -- and your ring is lovely!

Looks beautful!
