Omg. So excited!!!

So just had a totally totally impulse purchase...and grabbed these teeny tiny demontoid garnets as soon as I saw Yvonne put them up

But have asked her to hold shipping for me.

So what do you think?! Good (great even)? examples of Russian demontoids?

Or just blah and I should just keep looking (not that I was actively looking for them but wanted a demontoid to add to my "collection" since I started PS).

Those are so vibrant and beautiful! They would make great earrings or side stones for an amethyst ring.

Thank you chatoyoncy! I wouldn't have thought to pair them with purple but you've planted the seed....and I like the pictures I've found of green with purple... thank you!

Hopefully these are destined for earrings but not until much later I've got a couple more pressing setting projects in the pipeline.

Nice color for a demantoid. I find the Russian demantoids generally brighter than the Namibians. Many Namibian demantoids have a brownish or grayish tone.

Surprisingly I'm not finding much info on demontoids online (even on pricescope!) I did find a couple of threads where people posted their dementoids but so many pictures had been removed.

Finding it hard to see if these have the sought after colour or not; I mean I do like the colour but would like to see what top colour looks like!

I've always liked green with purple, but pairing demantoid with amethyst is an idea I got from browsing the Russianromanov website. Their prices are outrageous (for me), but they do have some beautiful jewelry.

I'll have to check it out it sounds like a good site for some extra eye candy

The top color is the color of emerald. I have only seen that color in Russian stones. I got my melees directly at a gem fair from a Russian supplier who controls a mine. The Russian stones on display were very attractive compared to other sources and commanded high prices. The Russian stones displayed were clean, the supplier didn't sell included stones.

I have a 2.70 carat Madagascan demantoid. It is included but the color is a sweet green and registers well on all lighting. The Russian stones I've seen have vibrant colors, though I've seen a deep forest green.

Here is my Madagascan stone.

Oh yes when you get them please post more photos. They look like a perfect color to me. :D

What size are they and what type of earrings will they become?
