I know very little, but yeah, that is nice.
Good find TL.

Wow it looks like it''s on fire! Cool!

TL,
It's a firecracker. Would you describe it as a barion cushion with a checkerboard top? I wish I knew something about the vendor.

It's gorgeous. I love it! Do they only sell rough?

Very interesting. Not sure how he did the pavilion but I definitely see a checkerboard top. The cut certainly brought out the best colour in the stone.

That''s really pretty. I have not heard of this site before. Do they deal with regular buyers?

What a unique cut. I like how it has that winding staircase effect to it. YOu certainly could get lost in that firey stone!!

The effect is done by not having a table, but rather several larger crown facets cut at a angle around 23 degrees. These then work like a looking glass into the culet of the stone, which gives the effect of the stone having a culet for each one of these looking glasses. The pavilion is pretty simple, not a lot of cutting or the effect would be lost.

Gene,
When are you going to cut one like this?

Add me to the waiting list for a cut like that! :) I LOVE it.

Maybe in few days or a week. I used to cut something similar in a round with 3 large table facets, and the rest of the crown spun and buffed. The effect was the same, but with 3 looking glasses not 8. I think actually in person, unless the stone is really large, the 8 is too many and the effect will get lost. I would do that cut with 4 diamond shapes, rather than the 8 triangular.

Very interesting cut! The color on that stone is so rich!!
