Looking for Emerald Cut diamond - .5 carat - please help

ouch! I did not see the table percentage. everything else is idea. my table is technically too big but Iike it. this woulda cost me 7000 at home. all other stats r great!

whats everyone else think?

Are you considering returning it?

If so, Then I would look for a well cut stone with a slightly lower color. All of the numbers have to sort of "work together." I think there aren't any "bargains to be found unless you find one in pre-loved. You get what you pay for usually otherwise.

no. I like it. idk y the big table is bad. the diamond is long and looks narrow. its what my gf said she liked. I like it too. I do understand what you're saying by all the stats have to work together tho.

A few of our members have EC's with big tables and they are well cut and perform well, they just lack fire. If the diamond appeals to the two of you, then there is nothing wrong with it.

Congratulations on finding a lovely stone for your lady and best wishes to you both! :wavey:

from my own research and what you've all taught me I thought the price seemed right and it did well. there is some fire in in but it has lots of brilliance. I really like the look of the ones you showed me gypsy. the ones that "flash" as u rotate them. this one does that wonderfully. solomans had one that had a table that fell in the ideal range but I didnt like it. I like this look. ill let u guys no whe. I propose and what she says! gonna take her for a ride in my trans am and pull over and do it. my girl loves her some t tops haha

Thanks Schroeder. I hope you'll bring us pics of the finished ring!

I will. soloman brothers said id get the ring in about ten days. ill get pics up as soon as I get it.

what do u guys think about the price I paid? good deal? average? or high?

if there r more comments keep em coming even though it seems this thread will naturally slow down now.

also, the rep at soloman didnt no what an ASET was. I thought that was strange. I asked if they had that info on the diamonds and he straigjt out told me he was not familiar with that. I found that strange

I wouldn't drive yourself nuts about it being a "good deal" since you love it. You can input the numbers into the diamond database here and then look for similar ones to see, but really not worth it since you are happy! When I went to GOG the first time, the .90-1.00 diamonds I looked at were hand picked by them and started at $3,000 and up. But I was looking at G-H-I they were well cut and beautiful.

In the end, the average person will usually be thrilled with many of the diamonds out there, pricescope is a very unique place filled with diamond experts- not the average consumers.

Best wishes for a wonderful engagement!!

As for Solomon, perhaps it was just an average salesperson and not an owner? I had spoken with them very early on but I was emailing with one of the owners.

It is all about what appeals to YOU and your girlfriend, so you had the tools available from this forum available, but really no one can tell you what to see!

James allen finally got back to me with the ASETs on each diamond. I have the email attached here and the results. Prices are also included. I thought there was supposed to be a lot of red in good ASETs. None of these have much red at all. Even the "best" one doesn't.

MESSAGE FROM JA
I just wanted to follow up with you to let you know I was able to extend your diamond hold through Sunday. I'm leaving the office for the weekend, but our customer service office is staffed 24 hours a day.

Finalizing a purchase is really easy; all you need to do is call our Customer Service department at 877-826-9866. At that time we can get your billing and shipping information, and either provide you with bank wire instructions (to save an additional 1.5% off of your order), or you can pay for your purchase with a credit card. If we don't hear from you by Sunday, we'll release them back to inventory.

The I colored stone ASET is actually a fantastic one for an EC. EC's are a little harder to get lots of Red. So a bright center (Green or Red) red in the steps, with a little bit of blue for contrast, and then green or red on the windmills are what you want to see.

Love that third one- gorgeous!

here was the message from JA that I meant to show you guys. the one with the actual info on the diamonds.

Thank you for your patience while waiting for the ASET images of diamonds 275449, 230047, and 290457.  I've attached an interpretation guide for ASET images to the bottom of this email, so please read that over.  Other customers have found it very helpful and I hope you agree!

The gemologist has given us some great feedback!  They really love diamond 275449 because it has great light performance, which balances nicely throughout the diamond.  It faces eye clean and has a true "H" color, which appears very white.  Its cut is beautiful and it's proportioned well.

Diamond 230047 has a deeper cut, making it look more square and impacting its size.  While it has the highest carat weight, its cut causes it to appear the smallest in the lineup.  In casual viewing, the diamond will face eye clean, but if you stare at it long enough, you may be pick up on the feather.  It's been ranked as your second brightest diamond.  Diamond 290457 is not eye clean and it doesn't sizzle like your other diamonds.

The gemologist highly recommends diamond 275449 for its superior light performance!  It'll look fantastic mounted in any setting and I believe you'll be very happy with it.

anyway, I think I am indeed going to stick to my diamond. I couldnt live with an I or H. I looked at enough in person and I just cant get over the fact thay they look p¡S$ yellow even if they are cut awesome. I think I just put clarity higher than cut on the 4c scale.

let me know your thoughts. Btw how is table width calculatwd as its percentage value?I was unable to find this info on the internet. which dimensions are divided to actually calculate it?

I would definitely go for completely eye clean but just FYI a well cut GIA- H color doesn't face up "yellow" so not sure I can agree there -

I just wanted to pop back in and say again, thank you ladies and gentlemen(?) for all of your help. You certainly represented Pricescope in all the advice and help you gave the OP. The diamond is goregous Schroeder, and congratulations to you and your intended.
